i really don't find it that funny
when I was five, I thought this was a horror movie
>>218188578It was a little bit.
>>218188558It was the 80s. Just like the X-files was great in the 90s. Doesn't really hold up now.
>>218188772maybe im just getting Gen X filltered by it i dont know, i mean it's an alright movie i just don't find it knee slappingly funny, like at all. actually think it's somewhat overrated.
>>218188772>It was the 80s.Yeah back in the 80s, being a snarky douche nozzle was still a novel idea. That's how bill murray basically coasted his entire career on doing nothing but making this face, and gen X creamed their pants over it.
>>218188802There was a time when >I'll sue your ass buddywas how you could respond without sounding mad
>>218188794I guess I can understand it in that I don't get 1970s Saturday Night Live humor. Does nothing for me. Or the Carol Burnett show. I'm sure it was great in it's time, just not now. Boomer humor. It flat, uneventful, boring.
>HOLY SHIT YOU GUYS DID YOU JUST SEE THAT???>THEY WERE ALL ABOUT TO DIE, AND THEN BILL MURRAY SMIRKED AT THE SCREEN AND SAID "THERES ALWAYS ROOM FOR JELLO">HAHAHAHA HE'S SO IRREVERENT! HE'S JUST LIKE ME!!!!!!
>>218188802And people weren't drowning in readily available media.
>>218188865This anon hates Bill Murray.
>>218188865Conglaturation !!!You have completed a great post. And prooved the justice of our culture. Now go and rest our heroes !
>>218188772X-files was always shit.
>>218188802No dice, I've seen how Millennials went gaga over Bill Murray playing as Bill Murray in a bunch of Wes Anderson movies. Also, fuck the Chive.
>>218188558Probably because this movie is sincere and you've been meta irony-pilled to death.
>>218188558What's the matter faggo, need the characters pausing mid-sentence and looking at the screen in awkward silence so you know when to laugh? Not quirk chungus enough for you?
>>218189088I was pleased when he showed up in Zombieland.
>>218189231>Bill Murray>zombiesHoly reddit moment
>>218188558You didn't get it
>>218189026It was unique when it aired. Rewatching it is unpleasant.
>SAVIN THE DAY!>SAVIN THE DAY!>WHEN ITS GETTIN TO THE POINT THAT ITS DRIVIN YOU INSANE!
>>218188558It's true your honor, this anon has no dick
>>218189262It was just an unexpected cameo. Was really short too.
>>218189110>maybe if I add meta irony that would have made the movie appeal to zoomersNot only is that not true, the fact Gen X'rs actually believe this explains why every movie sucks nowadays
>>218189304Ha! Just like that line from the movie.
>Please...>Please...>PLLEEEAAASSEEEEEE..>I believe it's magic! (magic!)>I believe it's magic! (magic!)>I believe it's magic! (magic!)
>>218189110>ghostbusters>sincere
>>218188772This is the closest to reality ITT. The truth is that the window of humor changes as we go onwards, good humor is always on the line between good taste and bad taste. It pushes the envelope of what people are allowed to say without elliciting that knee-jerk 'You're an ism!' reaction from normal, sane people.Because the window of what's acceptable has changed, a lot of the old humor is no longer funny because it in no way pushes the window of what's acceptable today, we passed those lines decades ago. What's funny today is racism, antisemitism and noticing things you're not supposed to notice, because those are the lines left to be pushed on.
>>218189110>>218189352>"Meta" originates from Greek, meaning "beyond," "after," or "behind," and now commonly refers to something that is self-referential, analytical, or "about" itself (e.g., metadata is data about data).Fuck both of you with this gay shit.
>>218189423The -ism reaction doesn't come from sane people.
>>218189496I know that, that's why I said it doesn't come from normal, sane people.
>>218189423Naked gun and Mr. Bean are both incredibly funny. That's timeless humor.
>>218189511>It pushes the envelope of what people are allowed to say without elliciting that knee-jerk 'You're an ism!' reaction from normal, sane people.I'm on your page. I perhaps misread.
>>218188558maybe you're a fag, you ever think about that?
>>218189569that makes no sense. fags LOVE this movie.
>>218189446So language never changes with time or across cultures? I don't know why meta is used to mean "about" and not "beyond" in English but it is.
>>218189599fag detected
>>218189658he's telling the truth. I'm a fag and I love this movie.
>>218189285
>>218188558dickless is one of the best jokes of all time
>>218189627Language is fluid. I harken back to etymologies.>"Meta-" originates from the Greek preposition metá (μετά), meaning "after," "beside," "with," or "beyond". While originally denoting succession or change (as in metamorphosis), it evolved through philosophical usage (notably Aristotle's Metaphysics,, meaning "after physics") to signify a higher, transcendent, or self-referential level of analysis, such as in metadata or metatheory.Alright.
>>218189714Condolences. Sorry for your family's loss.
>>218189752It really not. It's makes no sense. It's aimless and pointless and disconnected with reality. It's just fucking dumb. Kind of like the 1980s. If he had said something like HAS NO BALLS, that would make METAphorical sense. But no. Ha ha fucking so random 1980s humor. Dick. It's flat and boring.
>>218189407Most 80s movies WERE sincere. That's why they are so good.>>218189446Even worse, when people talk about "meta gaming" or "the meta"...
>>218188794It was never intended to be a comedy. In the 80's there were movies made to be inbetween genre's. GB is a mix of fantasy scifi horror and comedy. In the movie it was more of a suspense/comedy/horror. You were at the edge of your seat, didn't know what to expect, and were terrified or laughed occasionally
>>218190440Thank you for articulating that. It definitely was part horror. Ghosts and hauntings weren't even debunked back then.We hadn't yet collectively decided as a culture that ghosts weren't a thing yet. The minds watching back then we're of a different psychology. They had an entirely different world view.
>>218190546>We'reYou get the idea.
>>218188558Bump for boredom.
>>218189321>Do you have any regrets>...Maybe Garfield *dies*
>>218190546I really can't say that we watched the movie believing that any of that is real. It was over the top , filled with special effects. But mb becouse im from eeu.
>>218188802face it, Chevy lost
>>218188558I heard Debbie Gibson is in this.
>>218188794like the other anon said it's meant to be more entertaining than funny. It paved the way for combining comedy with big budget special effects movies. You wouldn't have Men in Black, The Mummy, or Guardians of the Galaxy without Ghostbusters.
>>218188856People back then liked to point and laugh at nerds. Harold Ramis, Dan Akroyd, and Rick Moranis' characters were all massive nerds of comical proportions by 1980s standards. Keep in mind that Revenge of the Nerds came out that same year. These days the nerd phenotype is embraced if not celebrated
>>218188772legs
>>218188886i would goze her if you know what i mean
>>218188558I just watched both yesterday and loves both
>>218188558>i really don't find it that funnyAnd that's why ghostbusters is dead. Just because it had some SNL guys they think they made a comedy, but there are only a handful of actual jokes. It's a paranormal-sci fi-adventure- horror movie. So the second movie was made with kids toys in mind, rather than actually continuing the paranormal story.
The 2016 version is unironically the funniest. Watching the over the top woke shenanigans was very amusing, also that gorilla ape who got her asshole posted online is the butt of every joke
>>218193924Bait used to be believable.
>>218192803She was 5'10"
>>218188558>i really don't find it that funnyYou're right. Also Home Alone 2 is the best one.
>>218189546Don't mix unfunny and unintenionally borderline retarded shit like mr fucking bean with naked gun, please.
Should’ve called that shit Crustbusters
>>218194530Thank you for saying that.
>>218194530>your uncslop is worse than my uncslop
>>218194669Nah.
>>218188558It's fun and entertaining. A crowd pleaser.
>>218190546>Ghosts and hauntings weren't even debunked back then. When were they debunked?
>>218194699You should probably just kill yourself now and save yourself a lot of time, bc if you live to your late teens, you're going to do it anyway when the embarrassment hits you, of realizing how fucking retarded you looked mindlessly regurgitating teenage buzzwords like this.
>>218194784holy shit, unc is fuming. this isn’t your fucking board anymore, loser
>>218190546>ghosts weren't a thingThey're real. I've seen one. So have countless of human beings throughout recorded history.
>>218189834>Language is fluid.some languages are more fluid than others
>>218188558I never watched this movie as a comedy as a kid. I didn't even know it was considered a major comedy film until I got older. I thought it was just a fun movie where they fight ghosts and monsters, and I liked Ghostbusters 2 as well for that reason.
