this is genuine “media illiteracy” if you actually watched the move you’ll see that Shrek enjoyed spending time with his family, he just hated being a celebrity. He didn’t even wish for his family to go away, he just wished for one day where he could feel like an ogre again. When Rumplejewskin screws him over the very first thing shrek says is what did you do to my family, and immediately he spends the whole movie trying to get to them.
