I watched a doco on Bam and was surprised to learn that the guy was actually a great showman and you can see in behind the scenes footage of Viva la Bam and when he was directing videos for HIM that he's actually a consummate professional who was always looking to improve the shot or make the prank more entertaining. He actually could turn the "asshole" persona off and on. It wasn't just a blanket live footage of how he really was.
Also interesting that the first season of Jackass was a compliation of sorts, all the footage was already shot and in the can by CKY and Big Brother when Bam and the guys sat down to discuss creating the show. So basically they decided to share footage to create the show, signed some documents, turned the footage over to editors and wiped their hands of it. It wasn't until season two that the team actually met together as one and tried to make a funny show together. This is why there's already some ego clashing, all these guys were used to being the Big Dog in their respective circles, and almost immediately you can see what a bitch Bam really is when he gets pranked or just isn't in complete control with all attention being paid to him. Almost immediately they cancelled the third season because they couldn't work together. So in season one when it seems like they are cool friends all going out and doing stunts, instead those guys had never met each other unless you directly see them on camera together.
