I'm curious how /tv/ watches things
>pay for streaming services
>cable/satellite
>physical media
>public or private torrents
>those free streaming sites
>ddl
>one of those debrid and/or IPTV subscriptions
>some other thing I don't know about
I'm currently rocking the private tracker/laptop/HDMI/MPC-HC combo, is there a better way?

bunny ear antenna + television is what i use

No, trackers are clearly the best. You can look into yandex or soulseek but at that point its redundant. There's discord servers that share megalinks but it's pretty insular

>soulseek
I've known it's decent for music and ebooks, but do people really share shows and movies? I've never even considered using it for a larger file

I don't mind dropping the $3 to rent a movie off of amazon so I can watch it on my TV easily. If something is too niche for that I'll just hit a streaming website.
I know there's better ways around all that stuff but I really don't care all that much.

mostly pirating and also using prime, tubi, plex and plutotv.

are you me from 25 years ago?

Torrents do fine by me.

Loads of people swear by the [streaming box] + debrid service combo. I think for normies who actually have a desire to follow 5 or 6 different goyslop streaming shows at any given point in time, this solution actually makes sense for them. Like a normie could pay £3/month for a debrid service and get access to all their favourite dogshit programming streamed in higher quality than whatever bitrate the Netflix / Disney overlords allow, with no ads. Ironically though it's beyond the pale for a lot of normies, this sort of illegality + having to plug in a device.

Personally I'm not willing to pay to pirate. Even £3/month. I will never pay for movies and TV shows. I am owed them for free.

I use the apps of the 2 major TV networks in my cunt so I have access to a handful of channels on each app and a catalogue of TV shows, movies and sport which gets updated often. Then everything else I just stream on Tubi or whatever current free sites are up and running.

Actually a pretty amazing service for being completely free, tons of good stuff
>>
I have a big physical collection (6,002 titles), and these streaming services:

>Amazon Prime
>Apple TV+
>BFI Player
>Disney+
>ITVX
>Netflix
>Shudder

Plus I go to the cinema almost every day.

do you have AMC A-List or moviepass? I had moviepass back when it was $10 for unlimited visits and it was great
>>
>>218201811
Yeah, Cineworld Unlimited, it's £17.99 (~$25) a month for unlimited films and I make sure I get my money's worth, I've seen 22 films there this month.

I have Prime Video because it's cheap in my country and it also comes with free shippings on Amazon orders and other services.
I also buy stuff on bluray if I'm particularly interested, but I always wait until I can find them on sale.
For everything else there's torrent, but I only use it every once in a while.

nice, any standouts you'd suggest? Back when I was going to see anything and everything I remember enjoying Annihilation(2018)

Torrenting?
Get a job. Losers.
>>
>>218202276
streaming services won't let me watch above 720p or a bitstarved version of their 1080p on my HTPC, torrenting is the easiest way to get a high quality encode

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die and Shelter have been my favourites and are definitely worth watching

what's your life like? are you a loner?
>>
Why the fuck would I watch anything made in the past 16 years. I rent old kinos from the library
>>
>>218202469
I live alone and work from home and spend most of my free time watching movies so I am a loner I guess, but there are a bunch of film nerds who go to the cinema as often as I do, and when we're at the same showing we hang around afterwards and talk about movies.

What all do you watch?
>>
>>218200529
Qbit search bar

sonarr/radarr with plex. I just tell it what I want to subscribe to and they take care of everything. I have a plex server used by friends and family who don't seem to use anything else because they're watching my plex every night. I have symmetric gigabit fiber and a Linux server that uses hevc and has about 100TB attached storage (so 50TB redundant storage).

For old stuff that's not so easy to find anymore I usually just use Pirate Bay.
>>
>>218200529
Laptop (HP 255 G10), Piratebay & Qbit.
>>
>>218202839
could be worse, i'm a failed normie and my life is hell. i wish i took the quiet comfy life.
>>
I just torrent. For a while I used free kodi scrapers for the idiots in my family, but over time those stopped working, so at this point it's much easier to just download the garbage they want and throw it on plex for them.
