Shrek isn't a very good film. Shrek 2 is the good one Shrek movie.

That's because Shrek has been a huge meme for the better part of these 20 years. Remember the "Shrek is love, Shrek is life" copypasta? All these jokes about ogres? Finding the weird green guy from that silly pixar movie funny was an ironic joke, until it became a sincere one.
I'm not saying Shrek isn't funny, it quite often is, but it's not as good of a movie as its popularity may suggest.
