How come literally everybody watched this specific movie in high school?
To make people aware of the worrying social implications of gene editing. Probably the only film of value I ever watched in a high school biology class.
>>218205896It's an aesthetically pleasing kino.
>>218205930The movie just describes the awkward period where both population would be living at the same time. A generation down the line every kid would be gene edited and this no longer would be a question.
>>218205930>trying to become better than ourselves is le badthe option to cure male pattern baldness alone will make gene editing in newborns an instant hit and impossible to keep a lid on it with laws and regulations.as soon as this cat is out of the bag, it will stay out forever. and the "discriminatory" effects are only relevant for a generation or two, afterwards literally everyone will be an edited baby.nobody cries about the millions of people who lost their jobs breeding horses either because the automobile destroyed their livelihoods, the march of progress is unstoppable. don' be one of those luddites who has to be dragged crying and screaming into a better future
>>218205985I disagree. I think ruling classes WANT an easily manageable slave class of "others". Gene editing just extends inequality to immutable, primordial level.
>>218205896There's no way anyone would ever confuse Ethan Hawke with Jude Law.
>>218206017But that's not what's in the movie where a relatively average family was able to have a gene edited kid.
>>218205896It's a leftist film. Did you notice Gore Vidal is in it? People used to think the future would be a lily-white eugenic dystopia
>>218206006>afterwards literally everyone will be an edited babyUntil newer and better editing tech comes out, and those with the means to access it are going to do everything to give their children a leg up on the competition, and you're right back where you started. I don't think humans have been content with true equality at any point in history l.
>>218206035It's kind of a schizophrenic film. It seems like it's about this guy overcoming discrimination and proving that man's will can beat destiny, but he doesn't overcome anything, he just cheats. He's dangerously unqualified and he fakes his heartbeat to appear normal. He didn't overcome, he just lied.
>>218205896Literally never seen it, in school or outt. graduated HS 2009
>>218206032Sure, but the implication is that there's a permanent underclass that has no hope of every rising above their position. One can assume that there's a class of people unable to access gene editing techs for their children, given that there seems to be no reason not to. You're left with "accident" babies like Vincent, and then people who were born to families who lacked the means to gene edit their babies.
>>218206176he overcame society's prejudice against non-chadsat the end, he learns it was only another filter
>doctor figured him out because he was staring at his peniswhat did he mean by this?
>>218205985reminds me of the pre-release marketing for Deus Ex Human Revolution. they had a clip where a sprinter in a modern-day setting who is sporting bionic legs and winning a gold medal, the announcer is talking about "after all the controversy, all the drama..." and that's set decades before the game
>>218206176He was literally the best at everything that wasn't bullshit related to his heart though. That is why he was the mission specialist of the most prestigous space mission.
>>218205896I didn't. We watched American History X.
>>218206006The problem is that deciding what features are the good ones is built around taste and tastes change. If we had the ability to make our kids look like a popular celebrity 40 years ago, every kid would come out looking like Molly Ringwald and Judd Nelson, but today those aren't the hottest looking movie stars. If every boy is blessed with a 9 inch dong then sex is gonna be painful for a lot of women. If every woman is blessed with a great and firm rack, what happens to their backs? Frankly in the 70s and 80s a slim figure with disproportionate breasts was the sexiest female body type, but today a lot of people prefer larger asses. So if one were to make sure their daughter would turn out to be slim and stacked, then when fashions change, she's just stuck with a back problem forever looking at fashion styles that show everyone's ass off.
>>21820657399% of the world will just want their kid to look like Dolph Lundgren or some shit
>>218206176He was extremely competent but they would never hire him because of his heart condition. Ultimately it was selfish but then again what isn't? It's one of my favourite movies even though I'm 100% in support of genetic manipulation and whatever means to enhance humanity.
>>218206006>pajeet spacing>misuses the term ludditeyeah this is real indian hours
>>218206176>>218206718he has a terrorist mindset and would be shot or hired by the CIA in reality, but it's a great movie
>>218206510>He was literally the best at everything that wasn't bullshit related to his heart thoughIt wasn't bullshit though. His heart was a ticking time bomb. If he was just a victim of prejudice, that would be one thing. But he wasn't good enough, he didn't earn the spot.
>>218206865I know it wasn't intended that way, but it could definitely be viewed as a warning about manipulative effect of the underdog tale.
>>218205896I remember watching this and asking my teacher a bunch of questions since gene therapy was a thing being tested in a lab why can't they rewrite his DNA?Anyway we had to read NIGHT.. ..i was told by teacher not to do tism research and accept at face value. They would make sure i got put into science instead.
It's one of the most jewish, anti-white movies ever made. Surprisingly, it wasn't made by a jew.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E93ZWqUgc-k
>>218207178I'm not watching that sorry
Gene getting head iting
>>218206006The issue is that "better than ourselves" is an ever evolving definition, and once you allow rampant gene editing you've essentially entered a race to the bottom of man deciding what kind hyper-specific genetic monster he wants his progeny to be, as filtered through his own biases. Even if the world were filled with 200 IQ ubermensch there would still be an underclass and people editing themselves to be something more, that's the danger in not accepting humanity as it exists
>>218207193Why would you reply? It's a very insightful video.
>>218207347Posting your own video with a contrary opinion (the opposite of reality) is a sign of narcissism and like most people, I always enjoy hurting the pride of a narcissist because it feels like helping. You don't even greentext your points which shows the video is its own motivation, not to talk with us about the specific movie you filmed 24 minutes discussing.
>>218205896I didn't watch it. Now your entire theory is ruined.
>>218207420>Posting your own videoIt's not my video.>the opposite of realityYou didn't even watch it.>You don't even greentext your points I'm not going to spoon feed you, the video explains it for you WITH VISUALS.>not to talk with usA narcissist might pass off someone else's points as their own. I'm posting a link directly to the source with accompanying visuals. You are an uncurious, condescending, frustrated idiot.
>>218207623your comment was the opposite of realitythe points aren't "your own" points remember, they're supposed to be the truthyou offer nothing and get nothing
>>218207654>your comment was the opposite of realityWhat does this even mean? You can't even find your shiftkey. Your are nothing more than a mouth-breathing zoomer.
>>218207623Bro no one is watching that shit you need to summarise it otherwise no one will engage with you. You sound like a pedantic autist. I've seen Gattaca at least 20 times and I don't think there's anything anti white in it, if anything i could see more pro white implications (who wouldn't want to be a white chad if given chance)
>>218206718>they would never hire him because of his heart conditionfor good reason, for all we know his heart exploded 5 minutes into the space mission. they put up these requirements for a reason, these jobs are dangerous and they want to mitigate the "human error" factor as much as possible.if the goal is to lift a 300 pound rack and you cant do it, but you still cheat your way in, get hired, and get some of your colleagues killed because your job involves lifting 300 pound racks every day then you are a retard and a fraud.
>>218207698VVhen you said it was an anti white film, that's obviously wrong on its face.
>>218205896>gene editing for the elimination of genetic imperfection bad>nuking your genome with contradictory hormones so you can get more cocks to suck goodnever trust your teachers.
>>218207717>Bro no one is watching that shit"101,225 views">You sound like a pedantic autist. I've seen Gattaca at least 20 timesPot meet kettle>I don't think there's anything anti white in it, if anything i could see more pro white implications (who wouldn't want to be a white chad if given chance)It's about racial inferiors infiltrating and stealing the place of racial superiors. This is a typical jewish trope. The end shot of the astronauts has zero white people in it.If you have time to watch Gattaca 20 times and miss the point, you have time to watch this video essay.>>218207727It's 100% an anti-white film. You're just exposing yourself as too stupid to understand. That's ok, the video I've linked to will explain it for you.
>>218207810People watched it because they had interest in watching, if you just post a link here you can't expect anyone sitting through a long video.I didn't see that at all in the movie. Its just an underdog story with 0 racial connotations. I think it's a massive reach. It doesn't help Vincent is played by a tall white guy who looks like a modelThe more interesting interpretation that it's actually an anti underdog story with how selfish his actions are leading a crew into a space mission with his shot heart.
>>218207810they should've cast The Rock instead of ethan
>>218207420Schizophrenic liberal.
>>218208092ok if it isn't your video, then there must be something you especially like about it besides "everything", something the youtuber got right. you must understand that point to even realize it's existence, so you are capable of communicating it in words. if the words are good enough, then maybe I watch the film. that's how it works in conversation.
>>218205896>>218206035>>218206176Actually the film is about how the eugenics programs fails everyone, and just adds unnecessary steps of waste to human capital. People who are the most qualified never even come close to the right fields, as Jude Law's previous work was track and field sports. Ethan Hawke's heart disqualification is total bullshit, as it's irrelevant to space travel and no matter who you are, your heart and health decline in space travel. But furthermore, it creates a situation where everyone has to lie and put up fronts. The Space Program just covers up the deception because the mission is so imminent and important to them, and it's implied everyone is doing this just to get things along in other fields. You have a situation where the best most motivated, knowledgeable, and qualified people are kept out of positions from trivial 'defects' that don't effect the job in anyway, and everyone has to waste vast sums of time, energy, and resources glowing up their resumes and appearance to accomplish even the simplest matters.Consider how Vincent is a janitor with a heart condition when he could be a high level mission controller for the Space Program, without ever 'endangering' the mission. The movie shows why trying to reduce human beings to exchangeable economic units like junkie leftists is a terrible waste of human potential.
>>218208273>Ethan Hawke's heart disqualification is total bullshit, as it's irrelevant to space travel and no matter who you are, your heart and health decline in space travelThat's not irrelevant. If you start with a heart problem, and then you go into space, you become a much higher risk than your healthy colleagues. He couldn't handle jogging on a treadmill, he was not qualified for space travel.
>>218207178>>218207193I've watched it without it being spammed on 4chan, and the video is retarded. His analysis rests on Vincent and Jerome being a white/Jewish dichotomy, when it's obvious they are both super fucking white. Furthermore, if such a society actually existed, it would pretty unfairly malign Jews because of their many genetic aberrations they deal with. The guy's a fucking noob at being racist.
>>218208425A realistic version of the film ends with them crashing on the moon cause the jackass had a heart attack.
>>218207880>It doesn't help Vincent is played by a tall white guy who looks like a modelHe has dark hair. Jerome has lighter hair. >The more interesting interpretation that it's actually an anti underdog story with how selfish his actions are leading a crew into a space mission with his shot heart. This fits perfectly. Parasites seek to infest and control the host at the expense of the host.
>>218208435>when it's obvious they are both super fucking whiteVincent has dark hair while Jerome has lighter hair. The jew in a film doesn't need to wear a tiny hat to be jewish. For example, Ralph Macchio in the Karate Kid can be understood as jewish.>if such a society actually existed, it would pretty unfairly malign Jews because of their many genetic aberrations they deal with. Isn't that the story of Vincent?
>>218207810The video is wrong, because the whole point of the movie is that everyone has been turned into an infiltrator by their retarded gene splicing, whether they are qualified or not. The racial superiors are also sneaking, scheming, and tricking.
>>218208457Does he even change his hair as part of the disguise?
>>218208425The whole narrative relies on this retarded heart condition, but everyone's hearts become weak in space. Everyone is sharing that risk because nobodies' hearts work for long in space. It doesn't matter because space travel is not a physical exertion, but a mental and resources exertion.>He couldn't handle jogging on a treadmill, he was not qualified for space travel. He successfully completes his physical jog in the movie...
>>218205985>A generation down the line every kid would be gene edited and this no longer would be a question. The movie literally explores this concept. The entire point of Jerome is he suffers under the burden of being expected to be perfect, when he couldn't live up to that he tried to kill himself. It's like South Korea but on a genetic level.
It's p. litty.
>>218208457>>218208497Jews can have light hair, dark hair, redhair, pale eyes, dark eyes,, dark or light skin, etc...
I remember renting Jurassic Park on the Sega Genesis and my parents renting Gattaca. I have a very specific memory of the scene when they were leaving the 6 fingered pianist and Ethan Hawke had to slip his contacts out before going through a checkpoint in a tunnel.
>>218208662>He successfully completes his physical jog in the movie...He faked his heartbeat and doubled over in pain clutching at his chest in the locker room.
>>218208740Exceptions don't disprove the symbology. We know what an Aryan looks like and we know what Jew looks like.
>>218206408>retarded writer thinks all guys hold their dicks in the dominant handI'm right handed but I use my left hand to piss.
Is anyone ever going to address how real astronauts look nothing like Olympian athletes in perfect physical condition, and that elderly Shatner can go into space no problem at 90 years old? Also if their society is so advanced and can genetically alter children at birth, they should easily be able to replicate a heart for Vincent and do a transplant. The Heart is not an especially complex organ.
I want to have sex like his parents did.
dunno what year gattaca came out but assuming it came out around the same time american psycho did then I'd guess its advent and increase in digital TV subscriptions, where as part of the deal you got channels that played new releases and we had one such channel upon getting ours that played american psycho over and over all dayso perhaps some services depending on where you were played gattaca or whatever so everyone watched it at some point
>>218209277In the film, the mission director says "bodies with the minds to match are essential as we push out further and further". They need to be in incredible shape to handle deep space.
>>218207880>it's actually an anti underdog story with how selfish his actions are leading a crew into a space mission with his shot heartI interpreted his ending speech as him knowing he's going to die. The heart condition plot makes it more than a simple underdog story, there's a lot more going on. He's a very resentful and angry person, not typical of heroes.
>>218209070They both look like Aryans in the prime of their life. Vincent looks nothing like a Jew, doesn't act like a Jew either. Jews infiltrate learning and administration to ideologically capture institutions. From there they censor information and control narratives, always bringing their allies to lock down venues of access. Vincent is a solo flier, with nobody on the inside, and no system propping him up. If the movie were about Jewish infiltration, the Jews would be Gattaca and the gene editors keeping a nigga down when he is more than qualified, if not for a space mission, than for a high level ground support or administration role.
>>218208273This.It's about how people have more to offer then a mere description of their genes. That's the exact opposite of a materialist perspective, and therefore, it's the exact opposite of a leftist movie.
>>218206006>Playing god is an equal-opportunity, accessible option for all. Zero cost of entry, totally open book + above the table practice!
>>218206006>Everything pushed in arts & literature are based on good-faith practice>Also heavy metals in childhood + various "vaccines" are "misinfo", because Bill Gates + Pharma want me to be healthy!
>>218209392The characters in the film might say that, but nevertheless, it isn't true. The movie shows how even traditional risky resource intensive ventures which once took thousands of diverse individuals with different backgrounds have been ideologically compromised by gene zealotry and need to play to influencer-like PR stunts and imagery. The astronauts all look like models because Gattaca and the rest of their society lost the plot and can't select for appropriate people anymore. The guy can swim across a bay in a storm, pretty sure he'll be just fine in an environment where everyone loses 40% of their bone density in a year no matter what they do.
>>218205896gattaca wasn't supposed to be a documentary
>>218205930>90% of normgroids alter their dna with the vaxxguess it didnt work
The doctor was based af!
These movies always fail because their propositions are no brainers. If you really lived in a universe where gene editing was perfect with no downsides then you'd be braindead and downright neglectful for ever having a "natural" birth. However, and lets be real, in real life the gene editing would give you turbo cancers and turn you into a big pharma cash cow. Ultimately the moral exercise is a waste of time thanks to its shallow premise.
>>218209029Did you ever play heady dynamite?
>>218205985>heckin technology will make us all equalimagine being this naive
