And if you maintain a local cache of ripped movies, the files either need to be compressed or they take up a huge amount of harddrive space (which ideally need backups so when you drive crashes you don't lose your whole library). Also, if you're into old films or arthouse/indie stuff, it can be a lot harder to find them via streaming and may require you to have several subscriptions just to watch one thing you like. At a certain point, if you give a shit about image and audio quality, it makes more sense to collect physical media.

The demand for them is so low that you can find high end hardware for a pittance. When the choice is ~50 bucks for a used turntable(manufactured by Pioneer or JVC, has worked reliably since the 80s) or ~100 bucks for the cheapest new one(manufactured by a company you've never heard of before, might break next month) it's a pretty easy choice.
