>>218208176I love Michael Mann but he hasn’t made a great film in many years now. Bery good cast but it’s a bunch of recasting for characters that were appreciated because of their earlier actors (people largely watched it to see De Niro and Pacino together, they weren’t desperate to see the characters from LA Takedown again). I’m expecting an interesting failure as it just feels wholly unnecessary despite him writing a book to justify it
>>218208176how the fuck does adam driver keep interjecting himself into every movie?
>>218208176>michael mann is 83 years oldthese fucking boomers need shoved down a flight of stairs. enough of your sequel nostalgia shit. RETIRE AND DIE.
>>218208176> HEAT 2 bookis garbage. Its like Deadwood movie, pummeling the turnip to rehash the exact same story instead of a deeper backstory or more procedural mania from Hanna
>>218208176Only the first 2 + Driver are confirmed. Dicaprio got the 150M+ budget greenlit, he's playing the lead + getting de-aged by AI. Butler can't do this and Miami Vice the same time -- he was pushed out.

>>218208176Adapting the book would make it 4 or 5 hours longbut the way it is structured with its different eras makes it very difficult to cut anythingif you cut the 1980s home invasion gang you cut the antagonist, if you cut what Neils crew were doing in the 1980s you cut how they ran into the antagonist and the girls backstory, if you cut what Chris does after the events of the film then you cant have him in the 2000s conclusion, etc
>>218211143nta butMichael Mann's book which is deviantart fanfic tier keeps flipping back and forth between 1989, 1995, 1996, 2000, 20021989 one of the first big score Neil is taking on with his Heat crew in Mexico but some black nigga who is on the run from Hannah gets involved and ruins his heist then disappears1995 right after Chris takes off and Hannah tries to get info out of Eadie and tries to shake up Nate1996 when Chris ends up in some shithole in Paraguay2002 Chris ends up back in LA, tries to whack Hannah but through some sort of plot magic stumbles upon the black guy from 1989 which is tailed by Hannah and has a latina slut hostage who is tied to Neil and everything converges towards some street car crash and shoot'em up and ends with Chris taking off again and Hannah is about to shake up Nate again asking for info about Chrisit focuses way to much on Chris Shiherlis, nobody who watched the original actually cares about him and his whore wife who meanwhile went back to Vegas with his son and ofcourse hooked up with some other guy. Chris escapes at the end of the original movie and now (1996-2002) he is some kind of Ray Donovan for some gay chinese cartel in some favela town somehow trading military equipment around the world and even gets Kelso (who literally says he's behind seven proxies) involved, and ofcourse also bangs the daughter of some local crime sindicate boss.btw Hannah is supposed to be this straight edge autistic detective who locks in on his target but does something really sketchy back in 1989 basically murdering a suspect in cold blood, very uncharacteristic and breaks the immersion into his character, i thought the point is Hannah NOT being like Neil, NOT walking on corpses and doing whatever it takes to score a score, instead he's like this cokehead speedfreak sociopath completely opposite of his original demeanor in the first movie.
>>218211143>Is this a lore breaking prequel where these two now knew each other as kids? They grew up in the same orphanage or some shit? No, but nearly. In the 1980s Neils crew were in Chicago heisting a mob safety deposit vault in whil Hanna was a detective in Chicago leading an investigation into a home invasion gangNeils crew and the home invasion gang were getting their work cars from the same garageNeils crew _almost_ went to it as it was about to be raided by Hanna _but_ Neils spidey senses tingled and he declared they had to leave it
>>218211376you forgot to mention Kelso's black hacker gf
>>218211303>it focuses way to much on Chris ShiherlisNeil dies at the end, so anything after the events of the film can only follow himThe 1989 material focuses on Neil, leading the crew doing a safety deposit vault heist and then robbing cartel shipment thanks to floppy discs they foundKelso was involved in 1989 not in Chris return

I hope they don’t adapt the book. The movie should only be about Chris Shiherlis coming back to LA after 3 decades of working for cartels and crime organizations all over the place. He’s planning a job but at the same time wants to see his family again who probably don’t even care he exists. The guy is now more seasoned that Neil and there should be a new detective guy because there is no point of recasting Hanna. That’s it. I remember the book having a plot about some psychopath and his goons or something so just have the cop have to deal with that as well. No time skipping crap, no mention of the protagonists of the first film, maybe have Chris say the Heat line but nothing more. Don’t make it embarrassing.
