>Cameron first portrayed the apocalypse in his 1984 debut, The Terminator, a franchise he’s quietly working on revisiting. “Once the dust clears on Avatar in a couple of months, I’m going to really plunge into that,” he says. “There are a lot of narrative problems to solve. The biggest is how do I stay enough ahead of what’s really happening to make it science fiction?”>Asked whether he’s cracked the premise, Cameron replies, “I’m working on it,” but his sly smile suggests that he has. The result will be the first Terminator film Cameron has been involved in that won’t star Arnold Schwarzenegger.>“I can safely say he won’t be [in it],” Cameron says. “It’s time for a new generation of characters. I insisted Arnold had to be involved in [2019’s] Terminator: Dark Fate, and it was a great finish to him playing the T-800. There needs to be a broader interpretation of Terminator and the idea of a time war and super intelligence. I want to do new stuff that people aren’t imagining.”
>>218211344>and the idea of a time war and super intelligence. I want to do new stuff that people aren’t imagining.”They hinted that Skynet is plotting across the timelines in that Emilia Clarke one. Judgement day keeps getting pushed back so Skynet can become more advanced.
Theres even like...cosmic terminators n shiet..
>>218211344Why doesn't Skynet kill the important humans when they can't defend themselves, like in the 18 hundreds?
>>218213045Either it can't send terminators that back in time or the risk of changing the future too much make it too risky.
>>218211344Meh, I remember Cameron shilling hard for Dark fate. Dude fell off.
>>218213045Why doesn't Skynet just try again in case of failure? After a couple of attempts it must have created the perfect assassin with knowledge of everything that went wrong. We have to assume that even for Skynet, time travel is no trivial matter. It can't be repeated indefinetely. Maybe the calculations take too long or the energy required for the time portal consumes half the planet's energy.
>>218213728>dark lesbiansYeah I think that’s on his contract. You can still make a thread with this picture and get 100+ replies.
I would like to see a return to a more Sci-Fi horror feel instead of Sci-Fi action adventure shit. The fucking comedy routine that they ended up giving Arnold and the T-800 turned me off from the entire franchise. Combine that with the new girl boss stars that made it unwatchable.
as long as they bring her back it'll succeed
>>218211344Need an Old West terminator movie
Does it have Summer Glau?
>>218213045because most records were destroyed by nukes and all they know is John Connor's mom's name and location
>>218215792That already exists and it's called Westworld
>>218211344>AvatarHas any project ever wasted so much of a talented man's life? What a bloody waste
>>218213728He is guilty of a far more serious crime in shilling Genisys. This monster sat there and with a straight face tried to tell us Genisys was anything other than horrid dog shit. What kind of human being does something like that?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAGS0G2i7UY
>>218211344Source?
>>218211344>The biggest is how do I stay enough ahead of what’s really happening to make it science fictionWhy not lean into what's really happening to make it horror? Why not use the trends and concerns of what's going on with robots and AI to write something that would be really unsettling.Like the original idea of a killing machine that you couldn't differentiate from humans so you couldn't realize the danger until it was too late, killing machines that are everywhere around you, or tapped into everything around you so you can't escape.
>>218219884They already did that in the first movie. As you know, horror movies only work the first time. Sequels need to be action movies. Like Aliens.BTW, if Cameron is working on Terminator now, that means Avatar 3 flopped.
>>218211344The last interesting property to come out of this IP was SCC and the idea of Sarah and John caught in the crossfire of a temporal cold war between Skynet, Tech-Com, and other factions where they all keep sending assets back to manipulate or terminate targets more subtly to swing the future war in their favor.

>>218218649>Actually listening to promotional materialYou people really need to learn how marketing and Hollywood politics work. Of course Cameron is going to say good things about the film during release because if he didn't then that makes it harder for him to get the projects he wants to work on off the ground. It's your fault for listening to the marketing at all. You remember when Bill Murray showed up in the 2016 Ghostbusters movie? He did that, because he was told by the producers and the studio that if he didn't he would be black-balled. And that was for that weak piece of shit. Genisys was produced by David Ellison, who currently runs Paramount, and is the son of Larry Ellison who is the third richest person on the planet, and both have close ties to Netanyahu. If Cameron didn't play ball, then that's basically his career down the toilet, or at the very least significantly more difficult. Also before you say something like "well I wouldn't do that because integrity...bladdy blah" firstly, you don't have a multi-million dollar career to maintain, and your life's work hanging in the balance, and secondly consider the stakes, be difficult and piss your career away, or say some bullshit fluff about a film that people aren't going to give a shit about 6 months after release.ANYTHING said in the press leading up to and during the release of a film doesn't count for shit. Regardless of who says it.
