The 1970's were quite possibly the peak of civilization and the greatest time in American history. I don't understand why it gets the bad reputation that period does when it was obviously an amazing time in the U.S.
Actually a great time up until Y2K and 9/11 and it has been all downhill shit since.

he was an architect so they had a good income and this was before the usual suspects flooded the country with brownies so they could cut labor off from being able to demand good wages

America was rich at the time because the majority of the developed world was wrecked by WW2 and the US basically took over global manufacturing.
Then certain 'American' individuals decided to send all of their manufacturing to China.

Back in those days being an architect (his job) or a pilot was seen and paid similar to doctors. He was not middle-class. He was upper-middle to very well off.

Pretty much. Sam and Alice are middle class, the Bradys are wealthy.

The 70s weren't great, marked by high inflation, recession, soaring interest rates, and an ongoing energy crisis.
From around '82 to 2000 was a great time in the U.S., with some exceptions like the eroding of our manufacturing base.

That is what really destroyed America. And it was done by people like Bill Clinton who pushed for NAFTA. But it only started there and all of American business leaders such as Vice Presidents of Global Manufacturing and Directors of Global production in each company sold out America for cheap labor and no regulation. They found out they could pay foreign workers 39 cents an hour without medical insurance instead of American workers with full pay and benefits. That is how America ended with greed from by corporate leadership.

Kissinger actually spearheaded the whole thing IIRC.

Ok and? You'll inherit dad's house and your wife will inherit her parents' house so what's the problem? You'll have three houses and never have to work a day in your life after they die. And why don't you live with them and rent out the house you bought? What the fuck are Ameritards complaining about?

This show ran from 1969-74. In 1971, Nixon ended gold-backed US dollar, which unrestricted the creation of money supply (fiat currency) that allows it to be diluted, devalued, and inflated.

Here's why the end of Bretton Woods system felt gud to live in America for a while, but it could never last once the govt spends more than it can keep up with its debts:

>Eurodollar growth increased capital flows, challenging regulation of capital movements.[4] On 15 August 1971, the United States ended the convertibility of the US dollar to gold, effectively bringing the Bretton Woods system to an end and rendering the dollar a fiat currency.[5] Shortly thereafter, many fixed currencies (such as the pound sterling) also became free-floating,[6] and the subsequent era has been characterized by floating exchange rates.[7] The end of Bretton Woods was formally ratified by the Jamaica Accords in 1976. Critics argue that the system's reliance on the U.S. dollar allowed the United States to operate with fewer constraints than other nations, while fixed exchange rates limited countries such as the major European economies and Japan in their ability to adjust monetary policy in response to rising inflation and shifting trade conditions.[8][9] They also note that the IMF and World Bank often imposed policy conditions that placed significant strain on developing countries and restrict the flexibility of local economies.[10][11]
