I think I'm a bit weird. I really like dark movies and stories. Let me explain what I mean by that - I don't just mean something creepy. I mean something so nightmarishly dystopian that you can't imagine a way out. Where most, or even all of the main characters horribly die because the threat is simply too great to overcome. Even horror movies are too tame for me, because there's still this tint of "hope"

Few movies scratch this itch for me. One that comes to mind is the ending to "The Mist", or "The Thing"

It doesn't always have to be horror either. Just that there's no happy ending, and everyone's going to die. It can be an alien threat, or it could be something man-made.

Is there a genre for this? I don't think there is.
