SanFran isn't even the best location for this. Thanks to an anon I found the early 70s serial killer "candy man" who had 2 teen accomplices. Every teen in his orbit just wanted to get out from abusive dads, which apparently was tres common WTF. It's rather like Kurosawa's CREEPY (2016) - played by an actor Bong Joon-ho praised a lot, but was blacklisted for groping a hostess.
