I have inside info about the Smiling Friends cancellation.Basically, here’s what happened. About a month or two ago, Emily Youcis, an animator turned Neo-Nazi who was a part of the old school Newgrounds crew (see the 2016 Magfest Animation Panel) got attention with her AI Will Stancil cartoon going viral. This stuff was profiled by the fucking Atlantic of all magazines. It got more eyes on it, and that’s when journalists started looking into Youcis’ past. They realized how much of a big part she was of old school Newgrounds, including being friends with Zach Hadel.Adult Swim got wind of this when they were asked for comment, and realized they had another Sam Hyde on their hands. The reason they didn’t look into Zach’s past before is because so many animators that had worked previously with Adult Swim vouched for him. But now they’re looking at old Sleepycast episodes and old animations. They even found Marc M’s animation where he says the n-word a bunch of times. They don’t want another embarrassment like with Sam Hyde, so they’re going to let Zach and Michael end the show without incident. Also, at that Magfest Animation panel from 2016, Emily accused Adult Swim of stealing her Alfred Alfer character and turning it into the show Mr Pickles, and some journalists tried to ask about that. I'm almost certain that it's just money related. The episode budget is quite low and AS would be draining a lot of whatever profit the show sees. By season 3, you can already see some cuts, Zach and Michael were beginning to do almost all of the VA, less guests.I'd guess that their take home pay per episode would be quite low, similar to a normie wage. I don't know if they could even legally sell merch for extra profit.They likely calculated that S3 was the viral peak of the series, they quit with an elevated profile and a lot of interested investors that will offer better deals. Or they could go independent now, advertise on twitter and make like 50x the profit on low-effort skits

I don't think people realize that World Peace was cancelled mainly because Sam is unpredictable and not really because of his politics.
