That's not a fancy dancy restaurant. You should compare apples to apples. And if you pay top dollar, the food should at least be cooked. Why do you think that sushi restaurant can operate at such an exclusive level? Because the margins are fucking insane and straight up theft.
>>
>no dish that you need to soak in a sauce to make it eatable is worth the money
>>
>>218225414
You can get great quality sushi in Japan for not a lot of money. Sushi isn't a high end thing unless you go to a high end restaurant. Sushi just became this high end expensive thing outside of Japan for some reason.
>>218225441
It's not overrated, they just make it over ceremonious with the whole "you can't even look at the fish until you've spent ten years looking at the rice you're also not allowed to touch.
There is a process to making it, but I mean you can't really make fresh fish any fresher, you know? You can't cook it fresher. So a lot of these places and people will say it's how they cook the rice that differentiates the places. Well no shit, it's the only part they actually have to cook.
With that being said, sushi is delicious and the price should be relative to the one in Japan. It becomes overrated when you have to pay a shit ton for it here in the west where they use way too much rice and don't even slice the fish like they do in Japan.

I was looking for the one webm at the actual fancy restaurant where the guys draw shapes on the table with sauces and that's the dish, but couldn't find it

Sushi has both expensive and cheap establishments over there too. I haven't done a fancy one to be honest

There's nothing retarded about it. The research was already done, years ago, that thumbnails are the number one thing that get audiences to watch your videos on youtube. As in, more than the video title. When your passion, or business, is youtube videos, that's what you focus on.
>>
>>218225533
You're not quoting anyone in this thread but you are quoting my thoughts. Texture alone is not enough for me to enjoy food otherwise I'd still be guzzling down soda water instead of regular water.
>>
>>218225488
The price and quality of sushi you can get in Japan is worlds apart from in the west. Anything sushi related gets a premium price slapped on it most places outside of Japan for some reason. Even in countries with a good fishing industry like mine. They have sushi restaurants of many different levels in Japan. The mid priced ones have great quality and value. First time I really tried sushi was in Japan and it ruined it for me, because I've been disappointed everywhere else I've tried it due to being overpriced and a lot of the time not being made properly either. I mean the main ingredient is fucking raw fish and you don't even slice it at the proper angle? or make the pieces in the right way? Fuck off..
I'll refrain from eating sushi outside of Japan. I'll just keep it as a treat for when I travel there again.

You're eating human sweat. I'd take conveyor belt sushi any day because it's cheaper and it's prepared hygienically.

>>218225548
Yeah they have many different levels of sushi restaurants. My main point is though the price and quality you get outside of the high end is leagues above what you get outside.
I only tried a high end omakase place one of the times I was in Japan. It was great don't get me wrong, but I still preferred the mid priced places because in those high end places. It's not like the fish can get any fresher you know? It's basically all the stuff surrounding the fish you're paying for at an expensive omakase place. And to be honest, I'm not really interested in the stuff "around the sushi".
It's like those teppanyaki places. I think they're a massive waste of money in general, but especially compared to a sushi place in the same price range.
Teppanyaki places are borderline theft if you ask me.

Why do gaijins think Japs want you to eat Sushi?
You guy are nothing but parasites for Japs, and most Sushi places in the west are run by non-Jap asians and whites and selling fake sushi so it's fucking weird that gaijins complain to Japs.
Like, do gaijins have ANY kind of self-awareness? No?

Why did sushi become the sugoi super skill master glorious nippon memefood?
Dumplings are way better, high skill ceiling, packed with flavour and actually hot food. Is it because every country has their own "meat in dough" dish?
