Does this board like any animated film or just endlessly bitching about ecelebs, capeshit and overrated actors?
>>
Toy Story 1+2 and the lion king are /tv/-approved films (AKa “kinos”)
>>
>>218233291
Both for 12 year olds. Telling
>>
>>218233272
My favorite animated films are Fire & Ice, Lady and the Tramp, Alice in Wonderland, Vampire Hunter D, Lupin III: Castle of Cogliostro, Akira, Wizards, and Heavy Metal
>>
>>218233375
I kneel. Wizards is absolute kino of the highest order

>BAM!
>>
how the fuck is it even possible to make illustrations like this

Fire and Ice is my favorite.

Amazing stuff.
I knew a guy named Jim Blanchard that had similar talent to Corben. He has a website where he sells some of his stuff.

i just watched some vid on how he did this
its some insane ancient print process using offset printing where he was basically conceptualizing these colors in his head as the product of black, magenta, yellow and cyan (only inks in oldschool printing)

I really like Corben's work.
Heavy Metal movie was a favorite growing up.
The magazines were always great also.
>>
yea the magazines are amazing, at least the old ones are
sometimes ppl on the comics board have links to archives of scans of them
i always forget to save them though

Pretty amazing work for 1969.
It would have been nice to see more of his work.

I like some of the old Metal album covers from back in the day.

I like animated movies. Titan A.E fucking slapped, especially for a Don Bluth film. I also kinda liked Treasure Planet for it's aesthetics, even though the story is just a less inspired copy of Treasure Island.
>>
>>218238505
Bluth just might be my favorite animator. Dragon's Lair is so fucking kino even to this day
>>
>>218238544
Bluth stories never really seem to land but by god that man knows animation. Anastasia still goes insanely hard.
>>
>>218238581
I like all his stuff. I'll give it a chance if his name is on it somewhere. I live Titan A.E. It's a damn shame that it was a flop because I loved it. Had it on VHS, dvd, blu-ray.
>>
>>218238693
Ok not Blu-ray. I must have that mixed up with Atlantis or something else
>>
>>218238693
>>218238705
I like the aesthetic that he brings but he can't really write. His best stuff is written by someone else, like a Land before Time and Robin Hood.
>>
>>218233272
I love animated movies of nearly every style. The only style I didn't really like was Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It was an ugly 3D for sure.
My favorite of all time is Finding Nemo. The way they animated the water took animation to another level, similar to how Pinocchio did in the whale scenes so long ago.
>>
>>218238806
Man, clone wars is pretty good tho

The Rescuers Down Under doesn't get nearly enough respect.
The voice talent in this movie is as good as it possibly can be: George C Scott, Bob Newhart, Eva Gabor, John Candy.
>>
>>218239128
Releasing on the same day as Home Alone killed any chance this had at becoming a success.
>>
>>218239153
Very unfortunate for sure.

GI Joe The Movie is another one for me. Watch this and try not to be amped up.
The ending battle is also awesome. Plus we get to see Cobra Commander unmasked. This movie is so much fun. I remember seeing Sgt. Slaughter in this and losing my damn mind.

>>218239202
What! gi joe has an animated movie?!
>>
>>218239202
I had that movie on VHS back in the day.
>>
>>218239232
Me too along with the travesty that is The Transformers movie.

>>218239209
You're damn right. Go Joe!
>>
>>218239202
How in tf did I not know about this?!
>>
>>218239261
Let's not bring up the Transformers movie, I'm riding a good mood now and I don't want to spoil it.
>>
>>218239261
Hey I love the transformers movie. It's not good but 10 year old me didn't know that it wasn't good
>>
>>218239267
I can't believe you're serious. You must be young. You're gonna love it if you haven't actually seen it.
>>
>>218233272
Not a movie, but does anyone still remember Argai: The Prophecy?

I'm 55.. I had some of the original 12" dolls and the six million dollar man doll and the six million dollar man and Bigfoot playset. Some Eval Knievel toys too. Kiss bubblegum cards. Oh and picrel. I totally did not know gi joe had a whole ass movie. And Bluth is associated with this?!

I was 7 when John Lennon died and 10 when Elvis died. My mom cried all day over Elvis. We're from TN so he had that whole country boy done good thing going for him. My mom's ex sister in law met him and I still have her picture on my fridge. I'll post it next
>>
>>218239449
>I'm 55
Then you're in for one hell of a nostalgia trip.
>>
Pretty sure you won't find this online for afaik, I have the only copy. My mom's sil is on the right. Her brother, a man my mom married after my dad died, played drums for a lot of ppl back then, Jerry Lee Lewis and others
>>
The four Futurama movies deserve some recognition. After the show was cancelled, these were so good.
Bender's Big Score
The Beast with a Billion Backs
Bender's Game
Into The Wild Green Yonder
I love that they were all continuous to varying degrees and not knowing there would be another 2 iterations of the show after this, I was so happy.

>>218239449
I'm 45. I guess it makes sense that you didn't know about it, you would have been an 80's teenager when it came out.

That's cool about Elvis. I just watched the new documentary that was just released in IMAX. I was also named after Elvis by my Mom using his middle name of Aaron.
>>
>>218239484
I sorta fell out with gi joe, not because I didn't like them, I just started liking more fantasy orientated fare, like the d&d cartoon. Bakshi's The Hobbit. Stuff like that
>>
>>218239489
This was around the filming of Blue Hawaii if my mom was correct in her dates
>>
>>218239509
I didn't like it anymore either until I rewatched it like 10 years ago when I was zooted out of my gourd on painkillers when I hurt my back and it was the most amazing experience of the 2010's. HIGHLY recommended.
>>
>>218239501
Ah that's cool. Yeah I was 18 in 89.. I think by that point I was into girls, drugs and d&d and a lot of heavy metal.
>>
>>218239545
I will definitely be giving this a watch, fs. And Bluth is involved with it? The production values look insane so I would believe that
>>
>>218237202
Literally me
>>
>>218239562
The 1987 one? That's Don Jurwich, not Bluth.
>>
>>218239583
Oh my bad
>>
>>218239600
It does look good enough to be a Bluth movie so it's an easy mistake to make.
>>
>>218239610
For some reason we were discussing Bluth and I just segued into the gi joe movie. I'm having a bit of post confusion.. I get so excited taking about animated films that I sperg out
