It's been a long road
Gettin' from there to here
It's been a long time
But my time is finally near

And I can feel the change in the wind right now
Nothing's in my way
And they're not gonna hold me down no more
No, they're not gonna hold me down

'Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm goin' where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
I can do anythin'
I've got strength of the soul
No one's going to bend nor break me
I can reach any star
I've got faith (I've got faith)
Faith of the heart

It has its moments. But overall it's a bit weak. The time war slop was very dull. But it does have good episodes, and it's real trek unlike everything from the 2009 movie onwards.
>>
>>218233798
Poor Porthos. He deserved better treatment.
>>
>>218233798
The Xindi arc was kino. The time war shit was undeveloped and went nowhere. Seeing the Federation begin was cool though
>>
>>218233798
how long does Sam Becket spend in the Star Trek universe? does he ever leap home?
>>
>>218234237
i think the point was that it went nowhere. do a bunch of crazy shit and then erase it with a timeline reset so canon isnt tainted
>>
It became ridiculous in the last season when they stretched episodes into 2-parters and even 3-parters.
The mirror episode is KINO but it really didn't need to be stretched to 2 hrs come on
>>
>>218233798
its a reasonably well made show with a wooden cast and repetitive uninspired writing for the most part with a handfulof highlights that improves as it goes on. However its still produced in the true 'spirit' of the star trek with just a little trying too hard to be sexy for what was the 'modern audience' at that time. It isnt offensively purile dog shit like nutrek so for that it gets my enthusiastic stamp of "OK" its just a shame it was cancelled as it improved and then had the worst wrap up episode ever.
>>
>>218235048
I thought the 3-parters were good.

T'Pol was ridiculously hot.

>just a little trying too hard to be sexy
This was the only Star Trek show to somewhat succeed at being sexy. Seven of Nine looked like a butch concentration camp auxilary, and the "sexy" moments with Troi and Crusher were just cringe.

nigga Star Trek: The Original Series was effortlessly sexy, also the women wore skirts and there was none if that gender neutral calling women "sir" horseshit
>>
>>218233812
There weren't bad episodes
>>
>>218234226
He didn't feel a thing when Scott put him through that transporter.
>>
>>218236522
The first two seasons were weak. They were atleast still spiritually Star Trek but the show definitely got better when they went to multiple episode arcs.

NuTrek is way fucking worse than Ent. I can still watch Ent and it feels like Trek.

Why do it though
Why write such a pointless arc? Nobody likes time travel
They should have been full on xindi, early exploration, founding of the federation stuff. We should also have visited Mars more
>>
>>218236912
I was hoping the series would have lasted longer so we could see an Earth-Romulan war.
>>
There's already too much Star Trek about wars.
>>
>>218233798
by that point they had just made three trek shows set in the late 24th century, two of them at the same time; they had to make something different
>>
>>218233798
I thought it would be a good dull sleeper show but it's so incredibly bad it makes me rage.

I do

Trust me, no you don't. Source: I'm you, from the future.
>>
>>218237361
Its too easy to fuck up. From a writing perspective it's a major problem for continuity.
>>
>>218237221
It lacks energy. Given the frontier nature of very early exploration, there's no sense of danger or of pushing into the unknown.

>time war stuff is very dull
you are just repeating stupid shit some faggot said 20 years ago, it's fine.
>>
>>218238140
Nah he's right, time travel is where storytelling goes to die. It's the ultimate reset button on any regrets a writer may have later on.
>>
>>218238125
Dont eat ass. Its disgusting and makes you very sick unless you are using industrial grade disinfectant before hand which the porn of it never shows them doing.
>>
>>218238140
The Voyager 2 parter Year of Hell highlights the entire problem perfectly. If you could go back in time and just eliminate threats before they occur the first species to invent time travel would just dominate literally everything. It makes no sense.
>>
>>218234852
Archer was supposed to be "Future Guy" who was manipulating all the parties in order to restore the timeline.
>>
>>218238140
Voyager Year of Hell proves you wrong. If you can just go back in time to eliminate future threats you would just dominate everything. The first species to invent it would rule the galaxy with minimal effort.
>>
>>218238711
This. I'm very iffy on the idea of technological control of time. It ruins the power scale of the civilizations. I would still enjoy a random chaotic temporal anomaly though like in Cause and Effect
>>
>>218238140
I watched it when it was new and the subject matter was very boring. I wanted to see the early days of the federation and united earth, not constantly be tethered to the far future.
>>
>>218238125
plomeek soup
>>
>>218238791
it was supposed to go for 7 seasons, all treks padded out 20+ episode seasons and the time war was only being set up before it had a chance to go anywhere and was going to be a major part of the romulan war that we got cheated out of.
>>
>>218238765
Thats the Warhammer 40k way of handling time travel, it happens rarely but never in a controllable way because its caused by warp storm.
>>
Honestly I never got through the first season because it wasn't different enough. I was expecting a show about how people would try to do Trek shit without Trek tech, and maybe pick some up as they explore. Like they have no shields and their guns are crap so they can't risk damaging fights, because theyre also hella slow and going back to Earth would end the mission, no transporter, maybe an episode without the UT, and a lot more of a NASA aesthetic. Thought it still looked a bit too futuristic to show the evolution of near future space programs/military into starfleet, but I guess they are basically wearing the current NASA suit. Kinda lost hope when their special armor, which I hoped would have some mechanic to change up the space battle formula, functioned exactly like shields did in TNG.

>I was expecting a show about how people would try to do Trek shit without Trek tech, and maybe pick some up as they explore
This would have been neat
They had some kind of primitive blasters to start with but these were replaced with phasers-in-all-but-name immediately. It just didn't feel like early days at all
>>

It is Good.

>The first two seasons were weak
The first certainly, but i thing by the middle of S2 they found their footing.

I saw it as it aired and I fucking hated the intro song
More like Fart of the Ass

>like a butch concentration camp auxilary
