How do you become a critic/reviewer of...well honestly ANY medium of entertainment? In an age where it's not as common as before to get big traction for reviewing? What should be done to stand out?

There is a Scandinavian on Letterboxd with the username Punk who has logged in over 30 000 entries.
I'm pretty sure he is not a professional critic or a journalist. But people still read his reviews. I guess you need some sort of gimmick to stand out.
