How does this exist in the >curreny year?
Just pure, fun, based retard driven show where the objectively nice guy wins?
And how the fuck is this written by Fat Fat Martin? I mean, you can see his edginess here and there and the drab, gray worldbuilding, but not in his usual subversive way
I'm sure it will eventually go to shit and the epic everyone is a cunt Martin twists will make me seethe in the upcoming seasons, but this was a blast
>>
Based... based still exists in the world.
>>
Face the facts, Fat fat Martin is a good writer, we just hate him

I haven't heard much criticism of his actual writing. I know some people don't like how vulgar it is or how he doesn't like Lord of the rings etc.

I think most people don't like Fat fat martin because he never finished his GoT series so the show went down in flames without his continued books.

it's LESS edgy in the book. the edgy parts were forced in by the show writers to make it "game of thronesy"
>>

The way i understand the idea behind this series is that its a legend inside the ASOIAF universe so its sort of an "unreliable narrator" situation but of course its heroic AF.

Not even going to watch this show because I already know they will fuck it up next season
>>
I've never seen it, how many coons?
>>
>And how the fuck is this written by Fat Fat Martin?

It was written by him 30 years ago that's how, he stopped being able to write actual stories around the year 2000

>>218239383
>Gurm
>writer

He hasn't published a book in over 8 years now. He's not a writer
>>
>>218240018
No thats HotD these were just straightforward Novella’s from the protagonists POV
>>
>>218240052
what he said isn't even true of hotd. it's not legend, it's fairly recent history with various sources that don't necessarily know 100% what happened and have their own biases and embellishments. the general facts are all known but not necessarily what happened behind closed doors
>>
>>218239412
he doesn't even not like Lord of the Rings, he just pokes fun at the way it's written and nowadays 90% of people on the internet are incapable of taking a joke

>he stopped being able to write actual stories around the year 2000
I've heard theories that a ghost writer made Feast and Dance, like actual break downs of vocabulary and prose that indicate a different author from the first three books. Apparently this was to tie in a new book with the HBO series, his editors still had enough leverage to get something out of him then, but not anymore.
>>

>fairly recent history
there isnt really something like "history" in a world like that though.
Pretty much everything worthy of note instantly becomes legend that spreads word to mouth. 70 years ago might as well be 500 years ago.
>>
>>218240105
actually it's even further than that.

he adores lord of the rings over all things but just says his own writing style is different

it's not "I disagree with how Tolkien never talked about Aragon's tax policy" but, "if I personally wrote it I'd like to explore Aragon's tax policy"
>>
>>218240134
I've never heard this and it sounds gay and wrong. feast and dance are his work which is exactly why he can't write winds. if it was a ghost writer there'd be no problem

imagine thinking someone else could write manderly's speech
>>
>>218240147
this is probably the cope the showrunners tell themselves so they can insert more trans pirate subplots . the maesters keep history, even if they can be wrong and biased
>>
Qrd why this is good and not some vapid drama leeching of game of thrones waining fandom
>>
>>218237536
just release the books you fat fat fuck
>>
>>218240208
the story was written back before GRRM became a complete hack
>>
>>218240208
George has actually written the books that contain the full plot in detail, unlike the latter seasons of got, and unlike fire and blood where he has an overall high level history which the showrunners have to fill the gaps on and even then still ignore the high level facts

this season covers book 1 of 3. the problem however is that even though there was nothing missing to fill, they still added irrelevant shit to pad it to 6 episodes when it's a 1.5 hour movie at best. still worth watching though

however, I would exercise caution for s2 and beyond. since the books have timeskips that are not covered but the showrunners think this is too confusing for modern audiences, the next season will likely continue immediately after, which is during a timeskip and so will be entirely made up shit based on a few sentences from grrm that they won't even follow

treat the season as a standalone thing, since it is a standalone story, and watch it

Ive been noticing this in shows and its the number one thing that bothers me.
But if you say it's good ill give it a shot. Need something for when i finish deadwood
