The Tennant/Eccleston era felt like new Doctor Who, but something about Smith, it felt like nuWho. You know? It was like it began to wear the skin of the franchise and it became all meta referential and subversively camp. The fanbase changed during that time too.Im not trans btw
I'm sure it's significantly worse today, but Dr Who always looked like the faggiest of the major sci fi franchises to me from the outside
>>218238126Yeah but Billie Piper doe
>>218238126it is and isnt i watched those episodes and stopped after the first matt smith episode. obligatory fuck picrel
Never liked Smith, but it seemed the show got too big for its britches. Throw in lousy arcs and River...yeah I just stopped caring.
I liked the doctor who reboot1-7 seasons I think are pretty fun.Season 8 is so bad that you can skip it completelythen season 9 is great with 'Heaven sent.'and then season 10 and onwards is the worst writing I've ever seen a TV show take. Retconing lore, retarded storylines, and characters.>Doctor who has always been badThey should have just rebooted it again instead of continuing like they had. Every storyline that was established and started in the early seasons was answered. Literally all storylines we're wrapped up.And then they kept inventing new shit for S10 onward.
>>218238176Yeah River worked best as a one-off. It makes it so much more mysterious. Or at the very least they should have cast some plucky young version of her or something. Give their relationship some kind of larger scope to it
>>218238104Why doesn't the Doctor just regenerate into a wolf and devour his companion?
>>218238231>yjk
>>218238156>>218238266>this is a 10/10 in britbong land
>>218238266She does look rather tasty
>>218238104DW was my nerd obsession of choice from age 4, I watched some classics on DVD with my Dad before the revival started when I was 5. Loved the RTD era and the first Moffat series, but after Series 6 I could already see the cracks showing. All that convoluted River Song Amy Pond shite was getting tedious. I kept watching out of loyalty but tapped out halfway through Capaldi. Obviously he was great but the scripts were arse and Moffat went even stupider with Clara and the “secret war doctor” shit (poor McGaan got shafted).I rewatched NuWho last year and honestly think Series 5 is the best of the show’s history. It’s a shame Moffat couldn’t keep up the consistency that RTD had in his first run. I’m sure the later Smith/Capaldi seasons are leagues above whatever abortion they’re currently producing for Disney. Tbh I think I’ll go watch some Patrick Troughton serials, I find the 60s era really charming and comfyAnd FUCK these captchas
>>218238583I watched Season 5 but I think my long term opinion on it was soured by the finale, which was really retarded and a really dumb way to explain Moffats gay little “cracks in a child’s bedroom wall” (that he zoomed in on in every episode instead of doing the cool thing and making them all appear out of focus, in the background)
>>218238104I used to feel the same way, but on rewatch I vastly preferred Smith and Capaldi to Tennant. It did get a little up its own ass at times under Moffat, but when it was good, it was really good. Tennant's era has not aged well at all. Eccleston still holds up decently I guess.
