Nope
>>218238254No it will make them trans
>>218238276why?
>>218238254Depends on how much they've seen already. If they're sheltered then no.
>>218238316Saw it at the drive-in when I was that age. It didn't bother me but it terrified my sister. She was 7
>>218238254I still have xenomorph nightmares even though watching them on the screen does nothing for me while lucid.
I watched Aliens and The Exorcist when I was like 9. My parents didn't give a fuck. I couldn't sleep at all, every single little noise petrified me. Luckily my dad raided the fridge 3 or 4 times every night and that brought me back to reality.
>>218238316Way too scary for a child
>>218238254My 7yo is more afraid of cringe and embarrassment being portrayed on screen to the point he will hide but I’m pretty sure Alien would give him nightmares
>>218238416what specific scenes?
>>218238254Everyone should absolutely have a movie that scares the shit out of them as a kid but at like 10 or better when they themself discover it.No idea how this works in the modern world with smart phones because it probably means kids see their first X rated movie then their R rated.
>>218238337no mental issues as adults?
I think the lighting has a lot to do with its oppressive atmosphere, obvs
>>218238254no, 10 or 11 minimum probably
>>218238254If I had a son I think the first hard R rated movie I would show him would be Grindhouse Blu-ray at around age 10 on a home projector. I think it’s the perfect movie for a kid to see where they know they shouldn’t be watching it and would have a blast with it.
>>218238492What X rated movie are there? I think Larry Clark’s Bully was rated X and that was fucking gnarly. Friedricksons Killer Joe was rated X for the KFC blowjob scene.
>>218238591Pretty sure anon was referring to simple porn rather than a literal X rated movie
>>218238514Yeah I would say so but nothing from movies. Abusive mother irl is worse than any movie. She just wasn't good with kids. Great with adults but not with kids. Honestly, looking back on it, the end of Friday the 13th part 2 scared us the most. Children of the Corn creeped me out a lot. During the day, it's not bad but at night, no thanks. The worst I was ever scared though was reading The Amityville Horror in the late afternoon as the sun was going down. I had just read the part with the demon with pig eyes staring at them from a second story window and I had to put that shit down. I was maybe 12. I was sitting on a couch that my parents had just moved and it's back wasn't against a wall anymore. I kept feeling something behind me, staring at me. It was eerie af. I was a big horror fan and not much scared me. Ghost Story, both the book and the movie, were really creepy to me as a kid, too.
>>218238591KJ is so stupid. It's too over the top to be taken seriously
>>218238620Oh yeah. I think Dreamers was rated X too with Eva Green. That bitch shows her tits in every movie. I don’t even think she had a wardrobe for Sin City 2.
>>218238643>Abusive mother irl was she the reason you saw Alien at age 7?
>>218238254probably not, the alien is scary enough it would maybe lead to nightmares. though i was watching my dad's terminator VHS at 6, so who knows
>>218238643Jaws fucked me up my whole life when I saw it as a kid. Never wanted to go in the ocean again and i live in Florida. That is all there is to do here. Whatever you do don’t let your kids watch Jaws or Jaws 2, or Jaws 3 and 4 because they suck.
>>218238254The Hobbit an unexpected journey was too scary for my 8yo cousin, alien is going to make a 7yo piss and shit themselves.
>>218238710Terminator was pretty scary as a kid. He is gunning down innocent people in the nightclub and cutting himself the fuck up in the motel.
>>218238682Nah, my dad took me. He was really loving and never treated us like dumb kids. He knew I could handle it and he was right. I mostly laughed through the whole thing. Going to the drive-in a was a big deal. He took us to see Grease, Star Wars, E. T., Ghostbusters. All that stuff. We saw Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi with him too.
>>218238712Yeah me too. I couldn't even use the bathroom because in my mind, water meant a shark could get me. We live 1000+ miles from the nearest shoreline lol but you know, kids don't have the greatest reasoning skills. To me, if a shark could fuck up a boat, he could force his way through pipes. My mom and dad regretted letting me see that for at least a year Funnily enough, the first 3 D movie I ever saw was jaws 3. Such a fucking stupid movie but I was excited for the 3 d part, which ended up kind of lame. You would be better off with a Viewmaster
The first movie I can remember scaring me (maybe 4 or 5, I don’t really know though) was when my parents took me to the Smithsonian Air & Space museum and there was some movie playing about a clown doing stunts on those old bi-planes and this nigga was out walking on the wings and shit. Oddly enough I don’t remember specifics, I just remembered being really scared that he would fall off.To this day I find horror movies as a genre to be kinda lame
>>2182382547 year olds are smoking meth and watching scat porn on their phones. Alien is a joke.
>>218238254The acid boat ride in Willy Wonka is terrifying as a kid.
>>218238873Yep
>>218238254No.
>>218238643>Abusive mother irlI think I was 5 and my brother was 6 and we really wanted a dog bad. She rented us Cujo from Blockbuster. We didn’t ask for a dog for years.
>>218238365The only horror movie induced nightmare I ever had was Jason.
>>218238254No, 50 inch screen max.
>>218238254I watched Spaceballs as a child. Still have nightmares about it to this day
>>218238254I saw this on HBO sometime between 5 and 7. Obviously, it was the scariest movie I ever watched and nothing has ever come close. It's so damn good.
>>218238964Uh yeah, that's fucked up. In the movie the kid lived. In the book, he dies
>>218238757Your dad didn't say anything to you kids after that dude's stomach exploded and baby alien popped out? Something like "Hey kids you doing okay with this movie? It's not freaking you out too much is it?"
>>218238964kek, idk wtf this is so funny. Typical toxic bitch of a mom that's all too relatable I guess.
>>218239150Nah I was laughing my ass off. It looked fake to me at that time.. my sister was mostly hiding under a blanket the whole movie
>>218239194>It looked fake to me at that timedude... in 1979 that scene was consider off the charts in terms of realism. The fucking director hide the whole scene from the actors to get genuine shit-their-pants expressions out of them and it worked quite well.
>>218238254No, there is smoking in it, it is not appropriate for anyone to watch
>>218239223>that scenehttps://youtu.be/v3T883Iqt8Y
>>218239223Yeah, I'm aware. I guess what I was reading was much more visceral to me at the time and it just didn't bother me at all. I had watched a ton of horror stuff even at that age, mostly all the classic BnW stuff that were severely limited in what they could show so had to ramp up the suspense parts. I knew exactly what was going to happen the minute dude started coughing. I was there for the gushy parts as Todd from apt pupil would say
>>218238254It depends, do they understand that what they're seeing is farce or do they still think movies are real? I saw Alien when I was younger than that and I've never even had a nightmare about Aliens. But then I also had the toys.Fuck I miss the 90s.
>>218238254Yes. Went to Aliens in 1986 as an 8-9 year old. Great. Kids are amazing. My mom took me because she couldnt find a babysitter.
