Why does this mfer star in such mid movies? And this is HIS fault because he's the one choosing these projects. Even the movies that people consider really kino all come across as really generic. I think the only truly unique movie I've ever seen Denzel Washington star in was Malcolm X. And I would argue that he's miscast, and Spike only chose him because he was the biggest black dramatic actor in the world, despite how much I like that movie.
Denzel looking mighty zesty here.
I’ve watched a lot of his films and they’re usually good elevated by him. But he’s like Jack Nicholson where he’s usually just playing the Denzel character. But he’s good at it, good at displaying emotions, intensity. He elevates slop.
>>218240320That is one fine zesty lookin' buck. MmmmMMMMM! Look at that buck. Lay him on his stomach. Raise it up. Das right.
He's always been overrated. I like Denzel but most of his young work was to keep young black women fingering themselves. How many really good movies has he been in? Very few.
>>218240410He has no range. He plays a specific character very well but can’t do anything outside that archetype
>>218240429Likable black guy is a niche and he fills it. Almost any other black guy in most of his roles would be insufferable and alienate nonblack audiences. >taking hostages for his son to get free surgeryif it was like any other black guy it wouldn’t work
>>218240429That Gladiator II role where he played it like Training Day 2 showed me he was an amateur.
>>218240305Have you watched He Got Game, Bone Collector and Roman J. Israel, Esq. already?
>>218240573He Got Game is good. Haven't seen the other 2
Flight, Training Day, and American Gangster are all quality kinos. Malcolm X is good but not my cup. Equalizer is great action kino but its got little depth. Still the acting in the those first two especially is enough to make him the best modern black actor.
>>218240834also, as OP mentioned https://youtu.be/iQdLFTL4qBghe’s like the black jack nicholson
>>218240573>have you seen these 5/10 films?
