Was it kino?
>>
it's kinoslop
>>
Yes. I think it was my mom who rented it for me as kid. One of my first instances of seeing boobies.
>>
>>218241234
Diz was a goddess.
>>
I watched this on my 12th birthday with a bunch of my friends. It was kino.

Dina Meyer is so fuckable.
>>
Reminder that nu-/tv/ would consider this film “woke” if released today and would endlessly seethe about it
>>
It sucks
>>
>>218241466
If released today, Denise Richard would be replaced by a fat black lesbian
>>
>>218241487
I’m saying if released today in its exact state people would call it woke
>>

fpbp
>>
>>218241508
I'm saying if released today it would be directed by Greta Gerwig

>straight white guy has sex with straight white women
I doubt it, you just need something to argue about
>>
Its definitely a movie that seems considerably more hollow once you've read the book. Entertaining, sure, but with the director being a retard about Heinlein and strawmanning every element of his setting its frustrating
>>
>>218241508
I'm sure they would, faggot
Now explain why
>>
>>218241574
It has a tiny black woman knocking a blonde tallchad flat on his ass with one punch.
>>
>>218241591
that's because he was big and dumb
>>
>>218241574
Men and women portrayed as equal
Theming is critiquing nazis
Includes non white characters
>>
>>218241466
apparently it was woke even back then. I heard the book has only male frontline soldiers but the movie adaptation included females
>>
>>218241668
>Theming is critiquing nazis
and fails

Watched this again recently with a groypette who wanted to watch a bunch of incel / chud movies like Joker and American History X. Then she went nuts and started harassing my friends. Really hurt my feelings because I had made so many excuses for her and she ended up betraying me basically. Not to mention it was fun browsing /pol/ with a girl and talking about retarded e celeb drama. I kind of miss her already. I have a girlfriend irl but she's antifa incarnate.

Anyway she hated Diz until she died and then she felt sad about it. I forgot how much action in this movie just kind of drags. Its fun. I really wish it had had the suits or at least had them not just running around in a huge horse but obviously at the time special effects were limited.

I've read the book and also listened to the audiobook while at work a few years ago, and I genuinely forgot how much the movie added to the story. The knife throwing scene and "I'm from Buenos Aires and I say kill em all!" Line are kino and I don't even remember if they are in the book but I don't think so. The latter might have been a chapter header. I remember saying it with my ex girlfriends brother in unison cause he was in the army and it came up once and he started to say the line and I jumped in. My ex hated that because she didn't like her brother so it creeped her out that we both quoted the movie at the same time.

In the book the frontline troopers are all male, but also more akin to 40k Space Marines on steroids, while females are considered superior pilots due to physiological differences
>>
>>218241880
>The knife throwing scene
Is in the book, but it's a much longer and more involved debate over the role of the Mobile Infantry in their society and warfare as a concept.
>"I'm from Buenos Aires and I say kill em all!"
No, because unlike in the movie where it's supposed to be "look at this chud falling in line with evil fascist propaganda" the books portray the Bug War as being a consequence of natural conflicts, as both species need similar worlds to prosper. In the book they don't recover a brain bug so the SS-dressed psychics can triumphantly yell "It's afraid!", it's so we can have bargaining options for POW exchanges and a possible peace treaty.

Still brings me happiness that Casper Van Dein is still committed to the role despite his limited credits.
>>
How terrible are the sequels?

I dread the day where my neck will start to age.

On the topic of Verhoeven, can someone give me a QRD on Showgirls? I’ve heard it’s fucking abysmal, yet also has a cult following. What gives?
>>
>>218242006
Thats why you see a lot of older men wearing turtle necks.
>>
>>218242042
It has that blonde chick from Saved By The Bell poledancing, lapdancing and showing her pussy on screen.
>>
>>218241560
The basic core of the film was already decided before the director even knew about the book, once the rights had been acquired by the studio for a more direct adaptation, some elements of the book were used in the film.
>>
>>218242070
Is that the entire reason it has a cult following?
>>
>>218242220
You don't think that's enough?
>>
>>218242195
Its still annoying to see a great example of philosophical science fiction reduced down to that
>>
>>218241987
Second awful, 3 is better than 2 but worse than 1
>>
>>218242502
2 was more like a horror movie. I don't even consider it a proper part of the series.
>>
>>218241234
Of the highest order
The fact that leftists are still seething to this day about disgusting bugs being genocided is just cherry on the cake
>>
>>218241987
The Japanese traitor of mars movie is pretty good.
>>
>>218241234
It's fantastic.
>>218244866
Amerimutts are mentally ill.
>>
Overrated
>>
>>218245035
A movie like T2 is overrated, ST is rated about as well as it should be.
>>
>>218245049
T2 is amazing though. one of the best action films in existence
>>
>>218245469
Have you seen it lately? The kid is annoying, the "Arnie learning to feel" subplot is dumb, and the story retroactively ruins the first movie. Some great action pieces though.
>>
>>218245533
There is only one person that keep spouting this retarded opinion and it's always you
T2 is great, the kid is good and it's 'understanding how humans work, not learning to feel.
