The part in the sixth book where Hermione pulled Harry aside and sternly lectured him about being more compassionate towards Vernon's Tourette's syndrome was particularly touching. It helped Harry understand why his uncle couldn't walk ten paces in Kings Cross station without impulsively calling a person in a robe a Wand Waving Freak Cunt or even stuttering out 'Spell Jew' four times in front of a stunned Molly Weasley and her thirteen year old daughter. Vernon's tics were singularly volatile - and after Dumbledore controversially hired Harry's uncle to teach Drilling Studies at Hogwarts in 1997, the black students of the castle's populace were known to receive the worst of it - with 'Voodoo Nigger', 'Nignog Golliwog, Give a Dog a Bone', and 'Manchester United Loving Darkie Cunt' being among the penitent Vernon's most persistent outbursts. The last phrase was seemingly directed exclusively at Dean Thomas - who often took ire with Professor Dursley - accusing him of racism. This ultimately resulted in Dean's expulsion after professor Dumbledore took issue with the student's lack of sympathy following a minute long tic where Vernon repeatedly issued the phrase 'Nigger Warlocks Get Roped on the Whomping Willow' during black magical history month.
