such a natural. great on sportscenter as well.

You got the first name right, but the correct last name is Ferguson.

Everyone was creaming themselves over Conan’s le quirky nerd humor meanwhile this guy made a show for those of us who were actually having sex. I specifically remember titty fucking my college gf while this was on back in college. Based thread.

He really was the best TDS host. Too bad he's a retard who thinks he's too good to stick around at a job for too long.

His late night show wasn't that good but at least it had 5 Questions too.

No one thinks this. I watched it when it was on, but even then I found him to be smug and not deserving of that show. And I only watched when Conan was a rerun.
Letterman and his team got sold Kilby by some marketing people. But Dave never liked him. He fully supported Conan instead. Never once said to "stay tuned for Craiggers".

I liked the Kilborn Daily Show. I liked Yambo and Five Questions. I can't even find real evidence of "Hasselhoff History".

But I DID find Ewok Guy. He was a favorite.
Anyway, I grew up. You didn't if you really thought C.K. was a good host at all. Let alone "great" or "the best". WTF? He SUCKED at interviews.
Go back and watch. That's right, you can't. Because no one has recordings and no one wants them. The few you can find are awful. He always booked vapid "hot" models and did his smarmy flirting stuff. Really a terrible show that I only enjoyed because I was early twenties and constantly drunk.

Yes it was hilarious
>>
>>218258830

lol, you're a douche. Conan was funny, not just a pompous fraternity hack. I never ONCE saw Craig say anything witty on the spot.
He has this really sad podcast now that no one subscribes to. He claims he rarely drinks now. But still looks down on weed and his guests who may use it from time to time.

I've just decided that he's always been gay. It makes sense. He's not married, never seen with a woman, huge fashion nerd, a little superior to others.
His podcast is called "The Life Gorgeous", which is so gay it might as well be "Fabulous".
>>

>>

The more I see Craig outside of hosting stuff the less I respect him. Because he doesn't seem to have respect for anyone else. And he didn't earn his spot.
He got shit ratings and disappeared because he knows deep down he didn't belong in "comedy".

He should have stayed on Sports Center.

But I don't hate the guy. He was pitch perfect in Old School and on the series finale of Workaholics. They need to find more stuff like that for him to do. But he didn't have the chops to host late night. Tall and handsome and funny off cue cards isn't enough. Chevy Chase proved that.

No, but it's just silly when guys like him say things as if it's still the 1970s and we believe drug war bullshit about cannabis.
One of his former writers was talking about quitting booze and using gummies and he scoffed at it.
And I've found that attitude 99% of the time comes from someone who either had one bad experience with weed, or disliked some people who used it.
Knowing Craigers he probably tried a joint after 20 fraternity party beer bongs and had a bad trip and puked and resented it ever since. Ignorance is always behind that attitude.
>>
>>218259376
lol, what do you think "bots" can do now?

You should be happy anyone's even bumping your thread.

Craig Kilborn seemed unique at the time because so much humor in the 90s was self-deprecating.
Craig being confident, but not full blown arrogant, and being really funny blew my mind.
The earliest case of realizing the jocks aren't the bad guys.

Come to think of it, any late night show will book the best guests it can. The fact that he was stuck with no name bands and TV supporting actors and fashion models as guests means talent agents didn't push their clients to appear there. And when you've seen his interviewing you know why.
The show had a great vibe though. The Chris Issak theme was great. Some of the post-monologue stuff was pretty good. The guest segments were just awkward though because of Craig.

I obviously watched a lot of the show. Just because there were objectively weak parts of it doesn't mean I'm dismissing it. OP getting all pissed that I'm not fellating Kilborn as the greatest to do the job. I respect late night too much. Fallon is also shit. As was Corden. I don't like Colbert much either. They need to pull the plug on the whole thing. Conan was the last one who really knew what he was doing. Kimmel (a Letterman disciple) has it but he's turned the entire monologue into just Trump shit. And I turn to comedy to NOT hear about fucking Trump for a minute.
>>
>>218259496
But he wasn't really funny. Not on his own, off the cuff. And what other "jocks" ended up doing that? It was a failed experiment in the end. It was novel and that's why we watched it. And it wasn't confidence, it was cockiness. Go back and watch. Anything funny was supplied by writers. Watch his podcast. He's never been funny. Just kind of a sarcastic, smug prick. It did work a while. I was a fan of it. But it's been many years and I've matured. Why haven't you?
>>
>>218259555

I wish there was an archive of his stint on The Daily Show, he was the only host that would make fun of any politician regardless of party or affiliation. TDS came on when Bill Clinton was under indictment and they didn't pull punches with him or any of the other high level politicians like Stewart would go on to do.

cont:
>only wearing one shoe at the time of his discovery.

Onlookers stated that, upon being woken up from his drunken stupor, the still-inebriated Kilborn asked to be shown to his “regular dressing room.” The gangly, 6’5″ former anchor then eluded security for long enough to stumble down the studio halls and blurt out random catchphrases from his broadcasting days at SportsCenter, including but not limited to “Gettin’ giddy in the zone,” “If it feels good, do it,” and “The low angle spank!”

“Craiggers is back, people,” said Kilborn, whose signature gelled blond hair was described in a later police report as dank and lice-ridden. “Nothing to be afraid of, folks. This is just Kilby simply being Kilby. Release. Rotation. Splash.”

Kilborn then regurgitated in a nearby garbage can.

“Da da da—Da da da,” an increasingly aggressive Kilborn audibly hummed in a mocking tone, mimicking the final six notes of SportsCenter’s theme song while still hovering over the trash receptacle. “I’m Craig Kilborn. He’s Dan Patrick. Welcome to the feel-good edition of SportsCenter. Unless you’re me, and you feel like complete shit because your whole life is nothing but a goddamn joke.”

“Jumanji!” he added, scaring a nearby production assistant.

Kilborn, who had moved to Los Angeles before apparently going bankrupt, losing his home, and becoming a vagrant, would not comment as to how he ended up in Bristol, CT, but police sources said they later found a Mercedes registered to Kilborn’s older sister broken down on the side of nearby I-95. The vehicle had clearly been lived in for weeks, possibly even months.
>>
>>218259733
cont:

“Craig looked, sounded, and smelled awful,” said former colleague Kenny Mayne, who spent half an hour attempting to talk Kilborn out of his makeup chair. “But then again, as a broke, homeless man, that’s his job.”

Though Kilborn did not harm anyone and was treated with respect by current employees during his unannounced visit to his former employer, his mood shifted noticeably when he saw a framed picture of former ESPN anchor Keith Olbermann.

“Keith!” Kilborn said as he opened doors to the sound, graphics, and editing bays. “Come out, you son-of-a-bitch. I know you’re in here somewhere. I just want to talk to you for a second. I got your daily dose of Did You Know right here!”

Olbermann was at MSNBC studios in Secaucus, NJ at the time.

After ransacking sportscaster Stuart Scott’s dressing room, urinating on his own shoes, and emerging with a tie knotted around his bare, sweaty neck, Kilborn proceeded to interrupt the 6 a.m. broadcast of SportsCenter by forcibly removing anchor Scott Van Pelt, whom Kilborn referred to as a “wannabe,” from his chair.

Kilborn then repeatedly attempted to kiss former colleague Linda Cohn.

“Miss me, baby?” Kilborn said while unsuccessfully trying to suppress a fit of belching. “I gotta say, I’m—I’m—I’m proud of ya, Linda. Longevity, people. This woman just drips longevity. Drips. Linda Cohn, everyone!”

Added Kilborn: “Stick around, folks. I’ve got five questions with Linda coming up right after the break. Maybe this time she’ll say ’yes.’”

Kilborn then burst into tears, collapsed, and was eventually escorted out of ESPN headquarters. According to employees, Kilborn mumbled underneath his breath that he was starving and would be “dropping by” The Daily Show studios, hopefully before they took down the staff’s free lunch buffet.

“They still do that there, right?” Kilborn asked.

His daily show was so much more enjoyable than the Jon Stewart whines about politics show. It was more like Talk Soup but with weird field pieces where Beth Littleford and Brian Unger would interview small town weirdos. You just have shit taste then. That was his audience. And smart people like me when we were drunk or Conan was a repeat.

If you took a poll, even including idiots, I don't think you could get 30% of people who remember them to agree that Craig was "easily better" than Conan.

And that shit about him walking away with a fuckton of riches because HE didn't want to do it anymore is bullshit.

There are interviews with Peter Lassaly that contradict it, and Kilborn has given different answers in his own interviews. Some have allowed him to get away with it to save face, but there was simply no way he was getting a 6th season. Dave didn't want him there because he was TANKING in the ratings. Conan was absolutely on fire in the early 2000s. That's when NBC tried to secure him and Jay at the same time.

Does ANYONE remember "Hasselhoff History" though?

It was early Daily Show. Where they'd have every guest sit in the chair and do the promo "I'm _____ and you're watching Comedy Central".

Anyway, Kilborn would say, "Now in Hasselhoff History" and there'd be some actual historic event and then it'd cut to David Hasselhoff's "Lookin' For Freedom" video from Germany and they'd contrast it with something mundane David Hasselhoff did.
It was so hilarious. I watched it every day when I got home from high school.
And Youtube has no record of any of that stuff unless it was on some MST3K tape, which people were religious about saving.

True performers need a spotlight. He's not "literally begging" anything. He's still working on HBO and with his popular podcast. Craig, your "Chad" is doing what? Jack shit. 5K subs on his lame podcast where he and Gibby talk about the good ol' days. No one wants to hear from Craig. I tried liking him like I used to but he sucks now. And even though I watched him at 12:30 a lot, he wasn't as talented as ANY other host before or since. He really didn't belong at the desk. Some desk; just not late night doing interviews. Like someone said, he'd have been perfect on Talk Soup. Something as shallow as him.
