Are you nostalgic for 2016 television and films?
wasn't 2016 considered like, especially shit? that's what I remember, at least
Remember when Idubbbz could ruin a whole youtuber's career? Those were the days, coming home to see a brand new DramaAlert. Isn't that little gnome just doing 24/7 Zooms with Boogie and Wings now?
>>218266723You lost, Hillary.
>>218266712I was 35 in 2016, so not really but there were a couple of good movies that year.
>>218266765>Remember when Idubbbz could ruin a whole youtuber's career?I remember people SAYING he destroyed peoples careers but which one of his targets actually got taken down? All the biggest content cops didn't really change anything.
>>218266712I turned 30 that year./tv/ was still 24/7 CIA spamming. You could run into cp on blue boards and the pics would stay up for hours.Crazy times.
>>218266712I don't view Gen Z and A as real people. And their entertainment is also gake 'n fay.
i was around for skydoesminecraft and the yogscast and shit and i still have no idea who technoblade is
Can't wait for 2035's 'Why is 2026 so Nostalgic'
>>218266712why are zoomers so gay
>>2182667122016 things were shit. If we've come to the point where people are seeing that time as nostalgic and desirable we are cooked.
>>218266712We've been in the same year since 2016 tho?
>>218266723yeah, but only because what was deemed an unusual number of celebrities died. Truth be told, most people whine EVERY year has been "so bad".
>>2182667122016 is when TF2 died
>>218267036Leafy
>techno- ACKKKKK
>>218269018This
>>218266765Content Cop was vastly overrated and the only reason why people liked it was because he went hard on Leafy when no one else did. He didn't destroy Ricegum's career, didn't destroy the Fine Bros' career, didn't destroy Jinx's career, didn't destroy Keemstar's career, didn't destroy those children channels' careers. IDubbz was always mildly entertaining at best, and his content cops were the only good content he produced.
It's weird to think of 2016 being a decade ago. It feels like it was only a few years ago, but then I remember my daughter was born that year, and is turning 10. So yeah it has been that long. Damn.I don't remember anything from 2016 in terms of television or film. Did Interstellar come out then? That's when I watched it at least.
>>218266712Nah, I think the only good thing was Spotlight that year.
i dont think 2016 was particularly good either, things picked up around 2019 but then covid happenedalso i seriously think the addition of short-form content to social media has been the reason everyone's timescale is so fucked, 2020 onward has been on fastforward, with nothing happening
>>218266723By normies. Not by smart people
>>218269106Not really.
yeah I was in high school getting pussy
>tfw turning 38 this yearWas visiting my childhood friend a few weeks ago and he whipped our yearbook which had a section about modern technology, with people talking about how great ipods were and I realized smart phones hadn't even been released yet.
2012-2020 was purgatory2020 and onward is hell
>>218266723I lost my virginity that year, so wasn't too bad.
>>218266765All I remember was him saying “nigger” and harassing that one e thot.
>>218269284thisobama's second term is when he legalized the Smith-Mundt Modernization Act, which made it legal for the government to use propaganda against US citizens, which had always been explicitly illegal on the books
>>218269282And now typing this I just realized my 20 year hs reunion is this year. WHAT THE FUCK
>>218269284I'm honestly feeling this with passing year2012 was when propoganda on the Internet got dailed up with Kony 2012 and BLM which snowballed into woke culture coming about. Than Gamergate and the election caused more stress.2020 was the point of no return. Everything went massively down in quality, shit got 10x more expensive, its revealed the govt is full of sex traffickers and now the Internet is full of Jeets posting AI slop. There really is no culture to define this decade because people are just doomscrolling 24/7 to take their minds off the shit world

>>218269411Holy zoom zoom, I was in MIDDLE school
>>218269411>>218269472Stop being young right now
>>2182667122016 Youtube was really good,
>>218269411>>218269472Was born in 96 and I kinda pity the late Zoomers and early Gen A. Having their formative years under lockdown while simultaneously being permanently priced out of housing, car ownership while having their office job outsourced to India. You're in a worst position than Millennials after the 08 Recession
God damn there are people in here who were in literal fucking diapers during the housing crash/Obama inauguration
>>218269576and they post here thinking they're among their young peers on the edgy site to shitpost while instead they're shitposting with a bunch of 30yo+ who have always been here
>>218269167>things picked up around 2019No they didn't. I'm fucking serious when i say that we've been in the same year since 2016. But yeah 2016 was the first year we had fully shifted in the smart phone world, so you're right about it being the reason for culture getting stuck. The only place where i feel like things have progressed is my niche hard dance music, otherwise everything has been the same since zoomer culture took over in 2016.
>>218269284The Mayans were right, the Age of Pisces ended on December 21st, 2012 and the Age of Aquarius began.
>>218269371>its revealed the govt is full of sex traffickersThis already happened in 2016. 2016 is the year.
>>218269606I don't think that young people think this a cool trendy place to hang out it. They have tiktok for that.
>>218266712It's going to be funny when GenAlpha starts being nostalgic about covid
>>218266712Don't post degenerates. They might get over it. Grow past the pressure put on them by education trying to mold them into another invalid insult to humanity. Show that. Success. Not more shit.Don't infect others with bad things. You invited it in, you put it out. You are a bad person as bad as what is depicted. That. Make up for what you have done with at least absence of more assault from you of this against beauty.
>>218269669it's not cool or trendy at all and i don't know what they think the place is, 4chan has always been a place that draws in weirdos more than anything elseall i know is there are zoomers on here that genuinely think there aren't lots of older people on 4chan, even though the userbase has obviously got decades on themmust be a quality of anonymous posting
>>218266712Buy an ad.
>>218266723Especially for cinema. There are multiple films from that year I'd consider the worst of all time without a lot of exceptionally good movies to balance it out.
>>218266712I was born in 1987
>>218269319Susan Rice also became a chairperson at Netflix and Obunga created Higher Ground Productions and produced multiple films with them. Hmmmm.
>>218269713>4chan has always been a place that draws in weirdos more than anything elseNot really, surfing the 2008 internet 4chan just seemed to be the place that had most "buzz" going on about it. I remember hanging out in my gamefaqs poll of the day board and Boxxy wars were going on and it seemed like a huge deal to the 15 yo old me. It definitely was the trendy place that people talked about back then.

Is anyone else finding themselves really thinking about the last 10 years? About much has changed and how fast it went?I often have to remind myself that 10 years ago wasn't 2010 when the biggest youtubers wasn't channels like Smosh and Fred. It wasn't before shows like Key and Peele were airing and before the MCU got really big and culturally relevant.10 years ago wasn't 2010, It was 2016. In a few months, it will be the 10th anniversary of when Harambe died, and a little bit further, the 10th anniversary of when Trump ran for president. 10 years ago was when I first started occasionally browsing this site. 10 years ago, I was in highschool and I was excited about becoming an adult and living through whatever the 2020s will bring. What is even scarier is how COVID 19, the point at which my life seemed to get dull and blur and has felt the same, is closer to 2016 than it is to now. Kids who were 12 when the lockdowns hit are all either 18 or are very close to turning 18. I know I am going to get older and that there will always be the younger generation to look down on and remember our younger years, but I didn't expect it to go this fast
I have done nothing but masturbate and play video games and (mostly) neet around since I graduated high school back in 2016 and I only recently just got a part-time job. Am I missing out on sex and relationships? Idk senpai none of this shit seems worth the effort senpai.
>>218270387Yeah your youth really is a fixed 20 years. 15 years if you're a female. Young people should be remided more how it really is a finite period of time and how you want to spend those precious years, because it is a rather short fixed period of time in the end.
>>218270398Oh yes you are. Sex and relationships with hot women (not necessarily only 10/10 attractive ones, women can be psychologically hot too) is like porn x50. When we have only one life, it would be horrible to miss out on them. You do kinda get used to it too but not really, at least not in the way you get to porn. Also there are all kinds of life experiences that are really amazing, rather than just staring at screens your whole life. I don't know how autistic you have to be to not get bored by that by the time you're 15.
>>218270491*get bored of just consooming media by the time you're 19
>>218270382>was always being SAAR
>>218270387You're passed your prime troops. Just lay back and accept your insecurity
>>218266712Everything is still pretty much the same and things started going downhill for networks too in 2014 probably and 2016 didn't really have a lots of good ones but a few. I heard a few people say it was that good of a year when it turned 2017
>>218270491>Also there are all kinds of life experiences that are really amazingSuch as?
>>218269041The only other year I remember when people were constantly saying it's the worst year ever was 2020.
>>218270458I refuse to buy into the idea that I am no longer young at 25. Am I a kid? Far from it. But I know I'm not middle aged. If I were to go one with my life at this point under the mindset that I am an older man and let it affect what I do, choosing to refrain from activities like going to clubs when I go back to college in a year or two because I think I am too old for it, I know that I will be one of the many elderly people who regret not living in their younger years. I know that we always hear of those people in their 40s who still try to claim they are young, but this generation has a warped sense of what is old and what is young
>>218270536Are you seriously asking what all life has to offer lmao? There is so much shit to do. Personally i like travelling, festivals, all kinds of shit with friends, advancing in your career and going serious, very responsible things our job (the rush you get from seeing you're able to actually perform very responsible tasks IRL by yourself is pretty strong). Jesus just try things and see how great they are.
>>218270580Lmao you got all worked up for misunderstand my post, i meant youth as like from 15-35 or 20-40.

>>218270619Lol my bad. I often go on apps like instagram to send funny shit to my friends and i'll often come across people who almost seem like they're circlejerking about how old people in their mid-20s are and I thought you were one of those people

I know everyone loves to say that music was better back then but I, with full sincerity and honesty and a genuine attempt in trying to be objective and unbiased, can't think of any decent mainstream music that has come out in the last 10 years. I am sure there are a handful of songs that I liked, but they're so few that I can't remember any. I can name a lot of music that was great from the 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, and early 2010s, but I feel like 2014 was the last year when mainstream music had any redeeming value. Now, when I point out that music sucks, everyone says that I should just go look for smaller artists, just like how people say you need to look to indie studios for good videogamesWhat was the last mainstream song that you liked?
>>218271329This, im not gay or anything but all these zoomer boys are so cute. Makes me want to ravage their asses while they say their retarded shit like "fr fr".
For me, it was Internet Bloodsports
>>218271678>2014 was the last year when mainstream music had any redeeming valueAre you fucking serious? 2014 was one of the worst years for music of all time. That was the year of Iggy Azalea, Bobby Shmurda, and Meghan Trainor. Also, Rude is garbage. The last acceptable year for music is 2012.
YEAH!!!!

>>218266712I wouldn´t say that. Nostalgia is a longing for something that never actually existed as it´s remembered. It implies idealization. What i feel is somewhat different. I feel contempt for contemporary media production and miss the objectively observably superior quality of yore. I mean, for the most part. One of the best, or perhaps the best limited series ever made is actually from 2022 with the second one being from 2015 but you know, those are exceptions, they don´t really represent the quality of most media being produced at those times so it´s hard to use them as representatives of their time.
