I have to assume the classic Trek shows have better viewership than nu-Trek at this point. Even the younger generations prefer the old to the new.

Starfleet is cancelled already?

Kurtzman's contract ends in August.

>>
>>218324467
Starfleet began with a two season, 20 episode order. So it's all been filmed and will continue airing through 2027 but there's no sign that any more of it is being made; the actors were all sent home, the final episodes are having their CGI tinkered with by jeets, etc.

It has a bunch of episodes that are really fucking ass and at some point it aired alongside TNG and DS9 which is some pretty fierce competition
The thing I can give VOY credit for at the very least is that it has a proper ending

SNW is still in production it just has a know ending point. Beyond that they are developing other shows but they most likely won't go into production until after SNW ends. One was a new comedy series set on a federation outpost on Risa or something. So yes wrong on both counts. Shows are still in production and development as we speak. Also Starfleet Academy is still a thing. Also you know its really unusual to have like four or five trek shows running at the same time usually its just two. Like now. Dummy.

Kurtzman trek being over is the best thing to happen to the franchise in a long time. It was a decade between ENT and DISC. Give it another decade and hopefully they do a revival and give it to someone who isn't retarded. I'm happy to wait til 2036 for new trek if they actually make it good.

>>218323772
They almost certainly do. In bongland, the old trek shows have dissapeared from Netflix, where they've been for a while now. I guess Paramount wanted the actually valuable part of Star Trek back in their hands. Also, there's a broadcast channel here where half the time they are playing TNG/DS9/VOY, and another where they play TOS shows. I am in no doubt that the old trek shows generate far more income than the new shit. Nobody fucking watches nutrek.

I've been rewatching TOS and even the episodes that I once considered just okay are now better than before. newfound appreciation for the many different facets of TOS, within a given episode. every bit of time used wisely, efficiently, carrying significance in relatively short time. make no bones about it, gentlemen, this was a very horny show and they were pretty clever about masking it, within the technical limits of what they were allowed to air. all the same it was sultry space-fantasy entertainment, like... Enterprise. and these women, alone...think about it. this show had it all figured out from the beginning. and a newfound appreciation for Nurse Chapel. nice thighs. magnificent and wholesome entertainment.
>>
>>218327093
first of all
the snw sets not struck is a fun sign but there's nothing in development except supposedly that sitcom, and this was the actual press release from Paramount
>Paramount+ today announced that the fan-favorite original series STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS has been renewed for a fifth and final six-episode season ahead of the third season premiere this summer.
so snw is ending, who knows about the what and why of those sets, but it's over friend.

beyond that, do you even need a development deal to continu producing a series that got renewed (which would be academy, which hasn't been renewed (yet))? shonda rhimes kept her company connected to all her abc productions even though she moved to netflix
>>
Ellison would have to be crazy to extend Kurtzman's contract. Starfleet Academy was brutally rejected. Even the biggest shills are admitting that Kurtzman is the problem. Alex Kurtzman's name is now as toxic as Kathleen Kennedy in the public consciousness. I can see them letting him make stuff for Paramount under a first look deal because he's a fellow tribesman, but letting him run Star Trek would be catastrophic PR-wise.

The old star trek writers/producers are still alive and working. Hire Ronald D Moore, Michael pillar, Rick Berman, brannon Braga, Ira behr etc. and put them to work on a new star trek show. I'm sure after all this time they'd have some fresh ideas for a show.

I don't know. I used to like quite a bit of Kurtzman's stuff. How many of these other geezers are politically radicalized as well nowadays?
>>
>>218339240
Star Trek started in the 1960s. Star Wars in the 1970s. Time to come up with something new from a blank slate. Franchises like these accumulate too much cruft over the decades. Even with the split timelines and multiverse games they play, consistency suffers and the whole thing becomes too confining. Just come up with something entirely new to build off of.
