I've actually spent quite some time lately to think about how Stannis can do a five year time jump. He's the only character who can not just sit around. He has limited resources and needs to act fast and decisive to keep him in the game. And I think I found the solution: You sometimes see maps that portray Ceasar's conquest of gaul as a big circular campaign (pic related). That's not actually how it went with Ceasar, but we can give something like that to Stannis: He starts at Castle Black and marches down the west coast of the North, freeing it from Ironborn and winning allies and respect. Then he goes south to fuck the Dustins and take Moat Cailin, cutting of Frey resupply. Then he swings around the east coast and ravages Bolton lands. The story picks up again with him finally marching on Winterfell. You can actually have him exactly like he is now: His mixed army is freezing and starving, about to face a decisive battle. Five years might be stretching it, but you can have him be a strong general for maybe three years while the other characters grow up.

That's literally modalism. No devout Christian would describe the Trinity as several aspects, roles, or masks like the Seven. Seriously, the Faith of the Seven is essentially a disenchanted religion that only seems like Christianity in organizational structure. Rereading AGOT, the show mogs it so hard. It is like a young adult novel how unserious the writing is. The drama is extremely exaggerated and unsubtle compared to the show, and characters are like cartoon characters.Everytime Ned talks to Robert, Robert is flying off the handle and sperging out. Jamie kills Neds men as a prank. Robert bursting out laughing every other scene and pouring wine everywhere. The dialogue written for the show is much much better.
