Everyone they eliminated over the weeks were people who didn't fit these traits. They were people that stood up for themselves by not doing degrading things (Jon, Sylvia), that got scared (Mauro), or that were removed as another form of humiliation (Simmons).The original bad ending for the show was to degrade the final two contestants more and more as the final 4 days passed until all their fans eventually stopped being their fans and became haters instead because they were so disgusted by what they were watching. They would then leave the show in shame, with their newfound fame immediately destroyed right away.The degrading challenges are slowly interspersed with children's games so that when they happen the contestants don't realize the degree to which they are being degraded. This, aided by the sunk cost of being there for 40 days, and the slow but consistent upping of torment from TTS, freeloaders and sharks, decreases their defenses and makes it easier to make them go from "eat icecream" to "lick Chris' bellybutton" without realizing what's happening.They were going to go with this plan, but once they did it for one night and realized people disliked it very strongly because of Josie, it would ruin their chances of doing season 2. So they came up with a good ending instead where everyone wins. In season 2 they'll execute the original plan.
