filtered by walking forward and pressing R2

No shame anon, but some of us like when the corridor has actual mood and not just waist‑high cover every ten feet. RE4 at least had pacing and setpieces. Modern “fps action chad” games are literally theme park rides where you occasionally get to shoot cardboard cutouts.

Imagine bragging about enjoying hallway simulators on /tv/. Go watch Hardcore Henry again and call it kino.

plain old serial killer films like Maniac, American Psycho.
that's also the premise of In A Violent Nature, but it's quite ambient since you're following a silent retard. Presence is also a recent film from the perspective of a ghost.
also meta/comedy films like Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon.
some vampire films like The Addiction. some frankenstein films.
so yeah as I riff off the top of my head, there's lots.

Read this recently. Great book. Best part is the last 1/4 which is about the bad times coming to an end, as most zombie media doesn't touch on that. Filled with the themes you've seen in the "Dead" movies, such as racism and sexism, but much more fleshed out. Not much on gore or horror, very character focused. Also sets up well how the world goes to shit so fast. Has very minor references to the "Dead" movies.
For those just wondering zombie lore, book does some interesting things:
-Zombies are a hive mind. They are all connected, and share thoughts with each other, learning what others have learned.
-They don't think much other than to hunt and eat.
-They refer to themselves as "you" and "yous".
-They recognize that they were previously human, but now are just driven by an uncontrollable hunger.
-They refer to humans as "fast ones."
-The virus spreads to apes, then dogs, then rats. No other species are infected. These infected animals do not crave the flesh of their own kind; they only want human flesh.
-Zombies will eat horses when no humans are present. They don't care for any other animals or food sources, though.
-They do deteriorate, some faster than others depending on the climate they are in. By the last year the book takes place (15 or so years after day zero), most zombies are barely functioning.
>>
>>218582912
really makes you think: Weapons would have ended very differently if she had actually had a weapon. same with that webm.
>>
>>218582957
the first point is stupid but solves a major plothole about how zombies crowd around survivors. I guess if you said satan did it, it'd be cool.
>the virus
so they say it's a virus, and not a comet / satan etc?
also, do they do the whole "zombies are forming a community" thing?
>>
>>218583109
>so they say it's a virus, and not a comet / satan etc?
It's never confirmed, but most characters refer to it as a virus.
>also, do they do the whole "zombies are forming a community" thing?
No. Zombies will travel in packs, but they're not forming communities, just hunting together.
>>
Guys I'm marathoning the Aztec Death Whistle right now, I'm at 5min, what did I think? So far some guy died and there's Daffy with her weird stretched vertical belly. It's funny because they made her dress like she's White.

>>
>>218583305
has some decent death scenes if you stick with it.
also daffy will lez out.
>>
>>218583328
The sexism part comes from the women's point of view. They comment that all equality they earned is out the window when the world goes to shit. At best, they're forced into traditional house wife roles. At worst, forced to live in barns as breeding stock.
Regarding racism, it's interesting that at the beginning when everything is falling apart, there are reports that the virus originates from Mexicans.
>>
>>218583448
Is it normal in America when a student dies from spontaneous combustion, that they just leave his creepy skull-like Aztec Death Whistle in his locker for the next student to play with?

Now there's an evil White Christian youth pastor that's also a drug dealer, when will they finally get rid of those miscreants. I assume the evil White advanced degree holding Aztec history teacher who just wants to steal important historical artifacts that make you explode is going to die any second now so good riddance to that guy.
>>
>>218583476
> They comment that all equality they earned is out the window when the world goes to shit. At best, they're forced into traditional house wife roles. At worst, forced to live in barns as breeding stock.
Yeah, females are objects, livestock and servants. They know this subconsciously and I think this is why they’re all wilding out now. They instinctively know what we have today is not natural so they are like “fuck it.”

Most of the main characters are traveling (separately), and pick up rumors along the way or encounter certain things.
-One of the characters works at a archive that is like a fortress in DC. She mentions that she stopped receiving reports from a base in Florida (Day of the Dead) at some point.
-One character mentions they hear rumors of a settlement where zombies are forced to race cars, which is a reference to an unmade script by Romero.
-Character mentions coming upon the ruins of that town from Land of the Dead.
-Towards the end, a character "survives" a zombie bite and briefly connects to their hive mind, where she feels the final thoughts of some characters including the Coopers from Night, Roger from Dawn, and the three folks from Day who made it to the island, which confirms that they became zombies at some point.

Leprechaun in Space-- no surprise, the movie is pretty bad, but it's the comfy kind of 90s straight-to-video bad that I can still enjoy on some level. Some reasonably cool practical effects as well, especially towards the end. I'd put it below Critters 4, and now Hellraiser 4 is looking pretty good by comparison.

It does end up having nudity in the way of bare breasts, but unfortunately it's not the breasts you want it to be. There's a tit stick actress who goes down to a bra, but no further. They must not have had the budget to afford her boobies.

Also, any movie where an actor does a corny John Wayne impression gets an extra point from me, pilgrim.
>>
>>218584811
It perfectly encapsulates that low budget 90s sci-fi look. Occasionally you can forget you're watching a Leprechaun film til the lil nigga pops up.

Playing the violin? LooksChinese to me.

Big lol at the ending, what a dumbshit flick.

Daffy looks good with short hair though, shame she's balding the fuck out in the front. Probably from all the stupid Latinx ponytails.

All in all this was a surprisingly non-Aztec movie for what I expected, which was very disappointing. I wanted some actual insights into the Aztec culture. Might as well have called it the Davidian Death Dreidel.

Anybody here seen this? If so does it get better? I watched season 1 yesterday and outside of maybe one or two episodes it was mostly shit to me. Does it get better in Season or Season 3 or is just more of the same? I don't want to waste my time if they are. Also is Night Gallery worth watching? I just finished Night Visions and it was kinda meh. Some good episodse here and there...wouldn't say it was outright shit but it wasn't anywhere near as good as something like TFTC or Twilight Zone or even Goosebumps.

Night Gallery is great and worth watching. Twilight Zone is technically better, but I like Night Gallery ore because it's horror based. There are a couple Lovecraft stories, Cool Air is really good. Death on a Barge is one of my favorite episodes. Not one of the best, but it has a dreamlike quality /aesthetic to it.

Anything giallo
>>
>>218610416
That's a tough question, I would have to break it down more. Locations, probably Suspiria. Cinematography, Persona and Hour of the Wolf but there are some strong runners up. Set design, saying The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari seems to cliche, so let me get back to you. Lighting, let me think about that one. I guess I need to watch more arthouse horror because there's probably lots I haven't seen so can't have an opinion about.

Recognizing Art the Clown in a Scary Movie is a given. Recognizing this guy is not. I can't imagine more than 5% of the audience for SM doing it.

The first mthregan made more money than all 3 terrifiers combined and has the same kind of merch phenomena as terrifier. More people saw m2.0 than T2. all I'm saying is that Art isn't the only modern popular slasher.
Black Phone isn't one, but that's another popular icon. Both those films made more than T3 (just as a measure of how many people have seen them)
