What are the best episodes? Should I just marathon it?
>>
>>218574492
Watch Alfred Hitchcock Presents instead.
>>
YES Marathon it! Different people have their own favorite episodes. My favorite is "It's a Good Life"
>>
>>218574733

You can watch both :)
>>
>>218574826
The first season of Twilight Zone is great but it very quickly crawls up its own ass.
>>
>>218574896
Alfred Hitchcock Presents for me is hit and miss. When it's good it's really good and when it's bad it's terrible
>>
>>218574492
Eye of the Beholder is by far the single best episode
>>
>>218575687
>Eye of the Beholde

Agreed it is a super famous episode.and one of the best!
>>
outer limits
>>
>>218574492
The Howling Man is a classic; I show it to my students whenever we first get into a lesson on unreliable narration.
>>
>>218576406
>The Howling Man

Nice! Glad to see future generations will fall in love with the greatness of the show!
>>
What was the episode where they were in a toy donation bin?
>>
Walking Distance
>>
>>218576923

Five Characters in Search of an Exit
>>
>>218574762
SPBP
>>218574492
That said, the first three seasons are easily the best. Season 4 struggles with the hour long format, there are some standouts but it's weaker on the whole. 5 is the weakest, tired, the final episode is the worst of the show. Watch the whole thing, but don't just marathon it, just throw on a few episodes at a time every couple of days or week.
>>
>>218574492
The Obsolete Man
The Invaders
The Midnight Sun
One for the Angels
Monsters are due on Maple Street
Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up
>>
>>218574492
The one about the guy who can punch really hard, like super hard and he can knock out anyone in one hit and he ends up going against a person who doesn’t get knocked out and has he has an identity crisis and trains hard for a rematch. But it’s revealed that the guy was actually an alien who after being killed by the super punch a council from his home planet come to judge the dude and when the situation is explained they apologize for their buddies stupidity and leave.
>>
I wouldn't skip a single episode, only the 4th season with its hour long eps is a bit of a drag but even then theres some great eps. One bad episode for every 4 kino is your average
>>
>>218574492
'Penny for your thoughts' is a great lighthearted episode for when these suggestions get you down
>>218574733
That's good but it's not as consistent as tz
>>
>>218574492
To Serve Man
It's referenced in one of the Madagascar movies kek
>>
>>218577972
The Dennis Hopper Nazi episode is great
>>
The hitch hiker and mirror image (bus station doppelganger) are two underrated classics both with female leads
>>
>>218580927
it's not

the only good hour long one is death ship.
>>
What are the creepiest or most haunting episodes?

I watched "Once and Future King" like /tv/ told me and I like it. Waited for a twist but it was pretty straight fwd. Could make a kino movie.

Maybe a genderswapped one with picrel as Britney Spears?
>>
>>218574492
Everything but the hour-long eps are fantastic.
>>
The Thirty Fathom Grave
>>
>>218574492
I like the one where the guy is being hung/executed, but breaks free and escapes. Or so you think...
>>
>>218574492

>>
>>218583791
Miniature isn't in syndication.
>>
Just want to say I miss how we used to play it straight in media before. Everything nowadays always has to be tinged with irony like writers/directors are afraid of being genuine
>>
There are classic episodes all over the run, but watching the whole first season and then going through a beat of list for the rest is probably the move, though watching the whole thing is your obvious best option.
>>
>>218584348
You talking shit about my post?
>>218581620

Sorry I predicted an epic le twist, but these sketches were like 25 mins long. They gave fans the bare minimum. I want a Twilight Zone film, but Max Landis's dad utterly fucked that up.
>>
>>218577972
This.
>>218577660
Thats a good list. Would add:
>Walking Distance
>What You Need
>The Shelter
>A Nice Place to Visit
>>218580900
kek never made that connection before, I remember that scene
>>
I prefer One Step Beyond. TZ has too many comedic/goofy episodes for my personal taste.
I also don't think there is one 1 hour TZ episode that was better than the half hour ones. 1/2 hour was the perfect length for these tales.
Some good episodes that I have a lasting impression of:
A Game of Pool
Mirror Image
Jess-Belle
Queen of the Nile

Two

That one where the rich guy bets the other guy he can't go without speaking for a year.

The plane that lands with no passengers and it follows the investigator.

I've only watched season 1 so far and A Stop at Willoughby is probably my fav. I didn't expect this boomer series to be this good in general, pure kino.
>>
best tv show of all time the original black and white one
rod is goated i remember in an interview he talked about how just because something is on prime time doesn't mean it has to suck or not be thought provoking

my favorite episodes are the obsolete man and the taxi driver whose tv shows the future

What would you say the worst is?
>>
>>218574492
The doll one still creeps me out.
It's a good life is the best episode of the series.
>>
>>218574492
If you had a good childhood, Walking Distance is a hell of an episode
>>
>>218592751
The Mighty Casey
The Fugitive
One of the 10 episode where somebody gets a gimmicky power and can think of nothing interesting to do with it.
>>
>>218590604
> I didn't expect this boomer series to be this good in general, pure kino.
You people are mentally ill.
>it's old so it can't be good
Seriously, how closed minded and dumb.

absolutely retarded list do not listen to this. some of them arent great but tons of actually great ones are here and this person was clearly filtered. you'd also miss a lot of episodes that are influential like "A Kind of a Stopwatch". Takes a certain lack of heart to unironically put "The Long Morrow" on this kind of list.
>>
>>218595901
>like "A Kind of a Stopwatch"
Dogshit episode about a retard who gets a time-stop watch for no reason, can't think of anything to do but prank bar patrons by messing up their hair and try to impress his ex-coworkers and boss who has already fired him. Then there's a lengthy sequence where he uses his amazing powers to repeatedly freeze different reels of stock footage before breaking the watch in the most telegraphed and lazy ending possible. Absolute garbage and Twilight Zone at its worst.
>The Long Morrow
Two people stand in an empty fucking hallway set for 30mins doing trite 1960's love at first sight bullshit, twist happens because she doesn't bother saying there are civilian cryo pods anybody can use in the same building. Utter shit.
Stop trying to waste OP's time.

The worst is the guy on the boat who loves noise and then suddenly everything is too loud. Sounds and Silences. Awful. Also the final episode The Bewitching Pool is pretty crappy.
>>
Watch
>it’s a good life
>passage for trumpet
>five characters in search of an exit
>the midnight sun
>the shelter
>the monsters are due on maple street
>next stop willoughby
>a game of pool
>number 12 looks just like you
>the hitchhiker and clone episodes
>all of season 1
>two
>shadow play
>>
>>218598305
>Erm actually this premise has been rehashed repeatedly since it aired???
>>
>>218592783
Living doll and The Dummy are genuinely creepy
>>
Man I have good memories of watching the TZ marathon on July 4th with /tv/ back in 2014
>>
>>218600928
There was nothing original about it when it aired. 'Oops I broke the thing and everything sucks now' is just a shitty version of the Time Enough at Last episode.
>>
>>218600852
Also
>the silence, the one where they find the tiny city of people, long distance call, the one where the man dies and walks into heaven

Why are Jews so based?
>>
Is Night Gallery any good? I've never heard anybody reference "that great Night Gallery episode".
>>
>>218574492
>What are the best episodes?
The ones futurama/the simpsons referenced.
>>
>>218574733
This.
It's far more clever.

3/4 of twilight zone episodes don't have an ending because they write themselves into a corner, and they just end with Serling saying "oh well shit happens, it's the twilight zone, what did you expect" and the credits roll with absolutely not explanation or conclusion.
>>
>>218602347
Basado
>>
>>218575130
The risk taking is what makes it superior.
>>
>>218602765
It's okay. Much weaker than twilight zone, decent on the whole, a few great bits or performances. The episodes are made of a few segments rather than single stories like The Twilight Zone. The best story was "They're Tearing Down Tim Riley's Bar".
>>
>>218588481
>That one where the rich guy bets the other guy he can't go without speaking for a year.
I love that one
>>

Yes. Even during the bad episodes it was the greatest /tv/ journey I ever had.
>>
'60s kids had it made.

The one with the autistic magic old man who hangs around with young children all day where he identifies a vulnerable girl neglected and abused by her parents. He makes her feel special and she grows to trust him despite her parents telling her to stay away from him and some cops after him but he manages to convince her to come with him and be made into his 'princess'.

It was explained in the end monologue that he was really a young boy on the run from the intergalactic police you see.
>>
>>218574492
The one where the old man dies with his dog and his dog stops him from going to Hell.
