Which peaked higher?
they are different. i really liked GoT seasons 1-4, but Rome was excellent it just ended too early.
Ned's death was a shock. It totally blew my mind. But I could see Caesar's death coming from a mile away so I gotta give it to GoT.
>>218590884got really was good. it began to have moments of true brilliance around season 5, 6 etc battle of hardhome etc. then began to stray into self parody and had a really rushed anticlimactic ending which tarnished its legacy.
>>218592525>it began to have moments of true brilliance around season 5, 6 etc battle of hardhome etckek
>>218592525Struggling to determine if this is bait or a genuine 91 IQ take. Bravo
>>218592611normies will brush off hours and hours of shit if it leads to 1 slightly interesting action scene (even if it's incredibly shlocky)look at the Avengers movies
>>218592525>began to have moments of true brilliance around season 5, 6
I could see myself wanting to rewatch Rome. I don't see that ever happening for GoT
>>218592525bud the show was REALLY starting to show the cracks and inconsistencies by season 5. the last good episode was the mountain fight and even that had its problems
GoT, but Rome didn't last long enough to go to shit which in hindsight was a blessing in disguise. Yes S2 had issues because of rushing but it's nothing compared to the decline that GoT had
>>218590884Rome, clearly
there is a strong argument for rome s1 being better than any got season, so romebut rome s2 is so much worse and got had 3-4 great seasons so it's overall the better show imo
>>218592525I am surprised people around here hate s5/6 here. I don’t think the falloff happens really hard until s7 and obviously off a cliff at 8
>>218592525>battle of hardhome
>>218592919retards who liked s5 and s6 are what caused us to get s7 and s8.
>>218592916S2 rome was four seasons wrapped up in one. It's better solely based on that
>>218592919iirc season 5 had the silly Dorne adventures with the awful snake bitches, Arya's boring training, Stannis burning his daughter alive to melt some snow and then immediately getting btfo anyway, things were already going bad
>>218592525>began to have moments of true brilliance around season 5, 6All this, for some (you)'s eh?
>>218592525I think it went further than that in the later seasons when all the female leads became modern feminist girl bosses with liberal politics shoved in like I dont need no man type thing where all the male leads are emasculated and humiliated unless they do something to please the liberal hive mind like Jon always saying I don want it and She is my Queen.Tyrion is the only white male character allowed to be portrayed positively because hes a dwarf but hes also the single most evil character in the entire show and you dont even notice it because of how it likes to portray him.Ulitmately id look at the later seasons of the show and clearly its a jewish humilation ritual targeted at white people to destroy our heroes. GRRM now has no idea also how to end the fucking books because of what they did.I would take a look at the show in how it portrays female villains where even Cercei gets a good end to her despite being absolutely evil, and look how it portrays male villains where they often die agonizing horrible deaths and usually theres some female character smirking over them. I think the bigges issue with the ending of the show is that the way it portrays good and evil is really fucked up and is often forgiving towards women purely because they are women which doesnt even really align with the earlier work with the red wedding where things were more neutral in tone and good people get killed because they are in the wrong place at the wrong time, its much more realititic in its approach while later seasons feel much more contrieved in order to turn it into a modern day liberal political statement than have it be a medieval fantasy show which is why it flounders so badly as the writers dont know how to fucking tell a story and or intentionally made it bad.
>>218593877>hes also the single most evil character in the entire showi think his siblings are a bit more sadistic than he is. most "evil" acts he committed were mired in circumstances thrust upon him. unless you're a bookfag talkign about book shit not present in the shows
Kino face
>>218594113Looks like Peter Weller
>>218590884I tried to watch Rome twice. Each time I gave up after two episodes or so - too boring.GoT kept me going until it started getting shitty, and then eventually I just ragequit some time in season 7.
>>218593877>Tyrion is the only white male character allowed to be portrayed positivelyI'm not saying they were written well to the end but Jon Snow, Davos, Gendry and arguably the Hound were all portrayed pretty positively mate
>>218594216Are you a girl by chance?
>>218594216>getting filtered by kino>still watching Game of Dogshit past season 4
>>218594243no>>218594276true, I should've stopped watching the GoT slop way before that
>>218590884They were both garbage.
>>218590884Rewatched both recently (last 12 months). It is truly baffling how good GoT was for the first 4 seasons.Nothing has reached the same degree of early GoT in terms of dialogue, story, action, and pacing. We will probably never see anything so ingrained in the cultural zeitgeist, either.Rome is a good show, but I probably overrate it because I love Roman history. It has very good acting, and it does the Roman era justice. But it is clearly low-budget, and they don't expand upon the common historic points. This could have been a 8 season show, but the first season takes place over like 10 years for some reason, and feels rushed and hollow.Season 2 is even more affected by this, and it really impacts the pacing. Octavian should've eclipsed Ciaran Hinds' Caesar, but it doesn't even come close.Anyway:GoT 1-3 (10/10)GoT 4 (9/10) You start seeing the cracks a bit here, with a "style over substance" approach. Still great, though.Rome 1 (8/10)Rome 2 (7/10)GoT 5&6 (6/10) These seasons could have been great, but were almost completely void of those iconic dialogue scenes you would see in the early seasons. There are some amazing scenes, though, and the culmination of some great storylines, but everything in between these parts feels like a shell of its former self.Got 7&8 (4/10)
>>218594818>Rome>low-budgetgr8b8m8
>>218594818>But it is clearly low-budgetI'm pretty sure it was one of the most expensive tv series ever made when it came out. Of course things have changed since GoT but it's wild that Rome can be perceived as low budget nowadays
>>218595067the "hype up a battle, then cut to after it ends" budget trick that early GoT spammed was pretty much invented by Rome, the biggest and most obvious offender being Pharsalus. I remember that they caught some backlash to this so they tried to make up for it with Phillipi but even that was just some sweeping shots of two CGI armies on a flat barren wasteland with shaky cam and cutting away from the action to have some british b-lister wax poetic. even the battle of winterfell was more coherent than this shit. theres a reason everyone remembers "THIRTEEN!" so fondly its literally the only good action scene in the show
>got normies slop>Romekino until they were forced to cut it short
>>218595278yeah but tv series being considerably lower budget than movies used to be the norm, nobody expected them to be able to depict large scale battles and such but now that bar's been raised in that regard
>>218595278>the "hype up a battle, then cut to after it ends" budget trick that early GoT spammedI thought this is what GoT was doing too but then I read the books and that’s literally what happens. GRRM just skips from the beginning of the battle to the end where the capture Jaime. They didn’t want it to be like Lord of the Rings or Narnia where they embellish a battle that didn’t happen like that in the books.
>>218593877you sound like you watch Critical Drinker
>>218590884the best episodes of rome are so much better than the best episodes of GoT
>>218590884Season 1 of Rome was kino. I never made it to the end of season 1 game of thrones but someday I’ll continue and drop it before it goes to shit
>>218592525amazing how many replies nu-\tv\ gives to obvious bait.
>>218590884I just rewatched both of them. Rome Season 1 is god tier but season 2 is such a shitty clusterfuck. GoT had a long slow decline after season 4 but Rome's decline was immediate and jarring after season 1. Overall GoT is the better show simply because it had quantity as well as quality.
>>218597331you sound like you never watched a single video of his.
>>218594236Jon Snow was a simp for Dany, Davos was an old man with no fingers and his entire character is being a cheerleader for other men, Gendry is used for sex by Arya and is kind of a back ground character, Hound gets a pass because he simps for Stark girls and he was humiliated by Brienne. Essentially male characters can only be portrayed positively if they simp for female leads, if they are cripped in some manner or if they are humiliated by females at some point. Theres no strong heroic virtueous male character in the show who tells women no or tries to control women and tell them their place without them being killed or being a cripple. The Ending of the show is woke liberal fem slop which is why it sucks so badly as it becomes a competition between Arya, Dany, Sansa, and Cercei to see who can be the bigger girl boss. By the end of the show Sansa becomes queen in the North and no one really challenges her, she basically does nothing to build alliances and her strongness of a character is using little finger to bring in an army to solve her problems then kill him and being a bitch to Dany for no reason other than she wants to be a girl boss but the issue is that she has no political acumen or strategy and shit just magically works out for her now because she suffered. You would think maybe they would invent a character to be Sansa's husband or stress that Robin Aryn will be King in the North with her. None of it makes any sense and is just magical thinking without any sort of thought put into any realistic political intrigue which is what the whole show/books are about in the first place.Instead no game of thrones seasons 5-8 are just girl boss feminist empowerment power fantasy show that happens to have some dragons and zombies in it.
Worst part about GoT is how they played Varys straight, he's obviously bullshitting about muh people, muh realm if you read the source material and have some background information but they went nowhere with it. They literally made him a good guy instead of a self serving jerk
>>218590884Rome, but that's mostly because I'm a history nerd. The first 4 seasons of GoT plus some of the battles in the later seasons are probably higher peak in the eyes of most people.>>218591426It doesn't have to be a surprise to make it brilliant. The way they showed how hesitant and clumsy the assassins were, how gruesome stab wounds are with people slipping on the blood. I was teary when I saw that scene.>>218595278I think battles in "low budget" scenarios should just be a full 10 minute battle from a POV of a single person. This way it shows the true chaos of battle, and how clueless most soldiers are about what happens on other parts of the battle. It will also allow saving on costumes, SFX, extras, horses and what not.Hell imagine a scene where half of it is just a POV from inside a testudo formation just marching in the darkness being showered with projectiles, all the while you hear shouting, whistles, and screams. Maybe add in some maneuver in the middle where they have to walk in reverse a bit and then change angle, only to slowly reach the enemy and grind it to death. This shit can be done by amateurs.
>>218600305He was a better person in the books, so revenge fantasy.
>>218602282*no
>>218592525It got retarded when they started with that Mother of Dragons shit.
>>218599799If you've seen one, you've seen them all. >THE M E S S A G E>yep, that definitely smells like shite >SON of a BITCH>*fart noises*
