QTs best film?
>>
>>218625515
Not his best but one of his greats. I’d argue his best is probably Inglorious Basterds.
>>
The most underrated film of all time. Absolutely insane stunt work
>>
>>218625515
Jackie Brown. Probably because he didn't write it.
>>
>>218625515
>OUT OF THE FUCKIN BLEEUUU?!
>why don't you tell me WHATREALLYHAPPENNEDDDD
his delivery of these lines live forever in my head

honestly that finale is weak. everyone just went nuts for no fucking reason
also the whole heist is stupid if you think about it for a second
>>
>>218626224
Half that movie is stuck in my head.
>YOU'RE GONNA BE OKAYYYY SAY THE GODDAMN WORDSSS
>>
>>218626224
Chris Penn was elite in this
>>
>>218626244
The heist would have been fine if it wasn't set up with police and Mr. White killing half the store workers.

this movie sucked dick, only the first half was good.
You can fix the second half in one of two ways
1. have the main characters all die to kurt russel at the end
2. make them less annoying, more redeemable characters so that I can actually root for them

Watching dudes fuck is straighter than watching the style-over-substance masturbatory trash that is Kill Bill.
>>
>>218625515
Tarantino movies are low iq shallow slop for idiot teenage boys.
>>
>>218625515
1. Pulp Fiction
2. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
3. Kill Bill vol 1
4. Four Rooms
5. Kill Bill vol 2
6. Reservoir Dogs
7. Inglorious Basterds
8. Hateful Eight
9. Django Unchained (this one is so bad it makes me want to rewatch Wild Wild West)
10. Death Proof

Yet to See: Jackie Brown

i really dont understand the love for Hateful Eight
>>
>>218628210
I agree. People always react like I'm being a contrarian faggot when I say it, but I really do think it's his best. True Romance is better than most of his work, too. I often wonder what that might look like if he'd directed, not just wrote the screenplay
>>
>>218628366
I almost disagreed with you on True Romance but then I thought about it and it's better than everything Tarintino has made except for Inglorious Basterds, Pulp Fiction, OUATIH and maybe Django, I haven't seen it in a while.
>>
How come Chris seemed like a stand-up dude unlike his dbag brother?

What about Natural Born Killers?
>>
>>218626413
This list is bait. Kill bill 1 should be on A(never wastes my time, and has top tier anime action) and Inglourious (sharpest dialogue in Tarantino movie, and it actually makes nazis look decent instead of the stereotypical villains) should be on S instead.
Pulp is A, Hateful is B (it drags, and it has that cringy bbc joke), Once upon is also B, Deathproof and Kill bill 2 are C
>>
>>218628210
meh, anyone could have directed it. it's just one of those "hey I can do a movie that isn't just my cheap gimmicks" movies to suck up to bland hollywood. plus washed up actors he was trying to travoltify
>>
>>218626482
It's hilarious because you completely missed the point of the film.
>>
>>218625578
You can usually figure out the Tarantino dickriders because they parrot QT's opinion that this is his worst movie.
"Hey, if Tarantino himself says this is his worst movie then it's safe for me to dislike this movie."
>>
>>218629380
This.
>>
>>218625515

QT's ONLY good film
>>
after about 10 minutes this film falls off into a blackhole.
Quentin does the same thing Aaron Sorkin does where he deliberately creates characters with no emotional vulnerability to disguise terrible writing chops and once you notice it you can't un-notice it.
>>
>>218626282
Mr. White didn't kill anyone at the store.
>>
>>218628237
I was really disappointed in it. It had some great performances in it, but it was too long, it dragged in places, and certain scenes like the Samuel L. Jackson rape scene were tonally way out of place. It took what could have been a great movie and ended up with something just barely okay. It was the first time I realized that they weren't all hits with QT.
>>
>>218628435
Chris had to work for his paychecks and fame. Sean lucked out and got a handful of memorable roles in the 80s and has been treated like the prince of hollywood ever since, even though it’s been 90% mediocre slop ever since.
>>
>>218630560
no I didn't you smug little contrarian piggy

Pulp Fiction (you have to be a massive contrarian to deny otherwise, it's so head and shoulders above the rest it's unreal) > Reservoir Dogs > Jackie Brown > (power gap) KB the whole bloody affair > KB vol. 2 > Inglorious Basterds > KB vol. 1 > The Hateful 8 > Once Upon a Time in Hollywood > Django Unchained > Death Proof
>>
>>218625515
My top 2 are Jackie Brown and Reservoir Dogs. I think Dogs is better than Pulp Fiction but I didn't get to see Pulp Fiction before I saw too much satire of it.

Inglorious Basterds is great and has some really iconic scenes, but it drags in places and tries to do too much. None of the rest of Tarantino's body of work comes close to the tightness, direction, and purpose of Reservoir Dogs. For my money, anyway.
>>
>>218625578

Which one is Zoe? I like MEW and Kurt Russell.
>>
>>218630631
I could also present the just-as-broad argument that people who claim to like it are just being contrarian.

It sucks dick because it sucks dick. I didn’t even know that Tarantino doesn’t like it, but now that I do, all I can say is that I agree with him.

It’s 90 percent Tarantino seeing just how much “nothing’s happening” that he can get away with, and then 10 percent “GRRL POWER”/Kurt Russell humiliation ritual. You could have had the cool stunts AND a compelling story, but I guess that’s not what Tarantino wanted to do, because that would have robbed us of precious feet shots.

The plot was so thin that he had to essentially make the same short film twice, and then tape them together. Stuntman Mike should have been the vengeful spirit of a stunt driver who haunts that particular stretch of highway in a simultaneous homage to Duel and the drag racer/biker movies from that 60s/70s era of Hollywood that Tarantino loves to jerk off. But nah, you’ll get vapid bitches sitting around talking about nothing, and you’ll goddamn like it.
>>
>>218630773
It worked for me. That cop is bitching about getting his ear cut off, and Mr Orange just loses it with that “FUCK YOU, I’M FUCKIN’ DYING HERE!” to give him a little perspective.
>>
>>218625515
Kill Bill 1/2 is his best, then Reservoir Dogs, and everything else sucks.
>>
>>218634333
You're a dumb illiterate zoomer and should kill yourself before you endanger others around you
>>
>>218634207
I honestly think Pulp Fiction sucks. All the characters doing their stylized monologue dialogue I just hate it. It reminds me of a Kevin Smith movie and I absolutely hate every single one of those. But I don't hate Pulp Fiction. I just don't like it.
>>
>>218634599
Pulp Fiction to me always felt like everyone in that movie trying to constantly be the coolest person in the room.

kill bill is absolutely his worst movies but there are a select few parts that are some of his best work. people like uma thurman and madsen manage some of the best performances of their career but almost everyone and everything else is garbage.
>>
>>218634767
I'm 34. I just don't think it's very good,
>>218634672
Ya and it's written by Quentin Tarantino... it's not like real events or real people or something. There's some good stuff about the movie but the dialogue takes me out of it in so many scenes. Kill Bill, especially volume 2 I think is really really good though.

>>
>>218634863
worst casting first and foremost. tarantula has zero ability to choose decent actresses or to direct them and they were all fucking terrible directly because it was tarantino directing them. somehow he works well with uma thurman. a lot of the writing felt stretched too far to accomodate all the shitty extra cameos.

the fight choreography was terrible and not just in the big scenes. lucy liu wasnt even fucking trying, nobody gave a fuck except uma somehow.

most of the cinematography was directly ripped off instead of hacked together through tarantino's shitty low budget lens like older stuff. the entire era of tarantino's extremely lazy stylistic remakes is terrible.
>>218634898
django is just kind of straightforwardly mediocre/okay? outside tarantula's cameo it's not really bad in any way unless you cant tolerate jamie foxx. great performances, classic epic western style but not playing to tarantino's strengths. inglourious i actually really like because its his first actual comedy and it's pretty successful there. both are significantly better than KB.

It's a western in an age where the last westerns were either weak remakes or Oscar bait. It captured a lost feel/time in Hollywood and the entire cast does a really great job in their roles. It also just has crazy good costume/set design. I personally think most people love it now as it feels like an actual film rather than a digital movie
>>
>>218626471
you joke but its actually crazy how much of Kill Bill is a 1:1 lift from this movie. The movie even cuts to a backstory told via manga pages which QT just stole entirely but did it in anime instead.
>>
>>218635021
If you're going to try to troll, you need to be interesting enough to respond to.
>>
>>218634207
Pulp Fiction hits if you are just exploring non linear story structure. It's still a good movie, but I think he's done a lot better since then
>>
>>218635781

>>
>>218635807

>>
>>218635781
I thought this was describing Reservoir Dogs until you started talking about costumes and set.
>>
>>218634207
I like relatable and human characters and Pulp Fiction is obviously not trying to do that ever, therefore Jackie Brown mogs.
>>
>>218635876
I think you mean Kino

>>218635932
Reservoir IS very similar and has a lot of the same elements. Definitely could be called a (then) modern western of sorts. I think the general tone tho is very different. To me the general tone of Hateful is that in the frontier there are many different people, but there is only one universal law, not all sons of bitches need to hang, but the real mean ones do. Fits perfectly with the end scene
>>
>>218635147
The only thing bad in Kill Bill is the schoolgirl character with the flail. Volume 2 is a lot better anyway, but both are very good. You have poor taste.
>>
>>218627476
the ending to Death Proof is so bad I literally got pissed off by watching it
>>
>>218636230
directing got a bit rodriguez-y after they stop the car but other than that it was okay, kurt russell was fantastic all the way through.
>>
>>218626413
I love all the DiCaprio scenes in Hollywood.
Brad Pitt's... eh. It's not that I dislike the guy, they were just written in such a way that they're not so great on a second watch.

Switch Death Proof and Django, move Hollywood to B, and you got my list. Nothing else needs to move.
>>
>>218629228
>Natural Born Killers
Great performances, decent writing and atmosphere, mid direction, terrible pacing.
>>
>>218630631
I'm not really sure what I'd consider his worst movie... Certainly Kill Bill 2 is the one I enjoy least but I couldn't in good conscience say it's a bad movie
>>
>>218625515
RD and Pulp Fiction are really his only good movies
>>
In order from best to worst
Hateful Eight
Pulp Fiction
Reservoir Dogs
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
Inglorious Basterds
Deathproof
Jackie Brown
Kill Bills
Django Unchained
