I've been watching mainly samurai, 80s sleazy thrillers and hong kong cop films and it's truly impressive how these clearly commercial, mainstream, shlocky movies are careful.
Of course I'm not talking about, idk, Harakiri, Ran or the more serious stuff, but hidden fortress, sword of doom, yojimbo, these movies are leagues above even arthouse stuff made these days from a pure craft point of view.
