This film is genuinely dark and metal, and I love it. The ambiguity around Kelson is compelling. He tells Jimmy that he's just an atheist doctor and certainly not the devil, but in the end he demands a sacrifice, and Jimmy gets nailed to an upside-down crucifix in the Bone Temple. That seems very devilish to me. Maybe the point is that they are both devils.

In the first film Kelson euthanised Spike's mum and placed her skull in his ossuary. You might think that was for the best, but you can also see how it's morally ambiguous.
