Just saw this. As a fan of them for 15+ years (saw the original web series and loved them ever since), this was truly amazing.
I was expecting to be a bit disappointed, because "the big thing" often turns out to be less soulful than something produced with smaller budget… (and people usually become less funny over time). But this was IT - it’s peak cinema and I can’t stop thinking about it.

the premise is that they're trying to get a show at the rivoli, which is a kinda nice bar/restaurant that usually has live music, but that's not really what the show's about. The webseries (Nirvana spelled correctly) is old but still good but also everything after episode 2 is not canon to the 2017 show and the movie. So I'd say watch the Viceland show and if want to see older stuff watch the webseries and then you can rewatch the movie with a greater appreciation for what went into it.

I liked the movie a lot. It was the first time I've enjoyed going to a theater in almost a decade.
I thought the emotional heart of the film was actually pretty good. I do want the finale of the entire thing to have them succeed though. Hopefully that happens in season 3. The show does not have enough going for it to go on indefinitely so I'd appreciate a decisive ending this season and I do want it to be a show at the Rivoli. I also got unironic chills when they were playing some new song I had never heard before during the beginning, and eventually it peaked with the chorus or whatever, and revealed that it was the "been thinking a lot today~" song from every episode's credits, but because we had never been played more than a few seconds, most people probably didn't recognize it until the emotional core hit, very powerful for, once again, what is essentially a shitpost movie
