Can we talk about the sawed off shotgun. Would the shell being exposed cause problems for the person shooting the gun? What kind of spread are we talking. Yes, I know this isn't /k/

Yes. The casing would get stuck in the barrel, making reloading extremely difficult without a pair of pliers.

This movie sucked. That's what I want to talk about.

Huh? Don’t be an idiot.

Biggest problem I’d see is that the short barrel would make the weapon slightly annoying to reload as there’s not much barrel to grab onto to ‘break’ the action.
In terms of ballistic performance, you’re also getting very low velocity and high spread from the lack of a barrel, making the weapon highly intimidating but completely impractical against someone more than a few metres away.

When shotgun shells are fired the casing expands. Since the casing is outside the barrel, it will be difficult to remove if you want to reload.

Break-action shotguns have a shell kicker, and the plastic used in the shell walls is soft. He’d probably have to manually pull them but the difference in reload speed would be negligible compared to the annoyance of not having a barrel to grab for the break action.

the shell extractor would probably slip, it's not meant to have to deal with that much friction. he'd probably be fine with just banging it down on the table to jack the shells out of the chambers. i have no idea how much they'd deform out around the muzzle considering there's no chamber to keep their shape, it could end up looking like something out of looney toons. i've accidentally shot 3-1/2" shells out of a 3" chamber on a pump before and even that extra length caused the shell extractor to slip, and i had to get a dowel to punch the shell out of the chamber.

Yeah fair enough. Personally I’d leave at least 7” from breech to barrel cut so you could pack 3”-3 1/2” magnums loaded with Rhodesian Jungle rounds. But I’m a big guy used to big recoil, wouldn’t recommend that for most people.
