I really wonder how these smug ass writers look back on this today with all of their jobs on the line due to AI and truck driving/blue collar work being far from fully automatized

I would normally be happy that these low-mid level white collar "professionals" are going to be absolutely culled in the next 5-10 years beyond recognition but I know that they'll all just go on government welfare like the fucking parasites they are so there won't be any real consequences or karma for them.

can anyone explain why working in the aussie mines is shilled so much?
like "bro come to australia free food, free housing, i get payed 6000 australian dollaroos, why are you staying in europoor country? come now!"
>>
>>218665661
It's literally the only truly profitable job available for working people left in this country, and the only one that contributes to the country in a meaningful way on an economic level.
If I could go back a few years before I started my law degree I'd do it, just to quicken the pace at which I can leave this sinking ship of a country and move to SEA.

They should do a apology episode like they did for al gore

>>

>>
Always rubbed me the wrong way. The way that America's elites openly hate and despite the working class is incredible. Blue collar work used to be an acceptable and well paid line of employment that most of the country went into and then it wasn't, because they undermined it with mass cheap slave retard labor.
>>
>>218666293
It's not just the "elites", though. Most of the anti-working class rhetoric I see comes from completely average middle-class younger people who despise them because they aren't woke enough and focus more on earning money and providing for their family than on political activism.

Blue collar workers aren't worried about being out of a job at the moment, hell blue collar work is in all time high demand because nobody's replacing the boomers/gen x'ers retiring
My fucking plumber drives around in a 2025 Ford Raptor while the It guy at work cant even afford a car
>>
>>218666634
Plumbers weren’t the target of the episode thoughbeit. At the moment maybe because Trump is in office and will continue to subsidize the industries truck drivers and coal miners may feel more secure, but they’re not jobs of the future either.
>>
>>218665936
It’s honestly pathetic how they backpedaled over manbearpig. The whole point of that episode was Al Gore being an attention whore, which he absolutely was no matter what you believe about the allegory the used.
If they wanted to make an apology over climate change, they should have had manbearpig going on a completely ignored rampage because Al Gore had to make it about himself
>>
>>218666687
Oh, so you're one of those morons that thinks the only jobs in the future will be robot technicians, huh?
Truck driver and miners will, like prostitutes and garbagemen, outlast any other job.
>>
>>218665661
To build upon what the Australian said, Australia is a third world resource extraction economy masquerading as a first world advanced economy. Mining is the foundation of the Australian economy, it's literally an Africa tier country but all the White people that live there make it seem more developed than it really is....

...or to out it another way Australia is what Africa would look like if it were full of White people and not black people.
>>
>>218666687
>truck drivers and coal miners may feel more secure, but they’re not jobs of the future either.
They have been saying this for so long and still they cant get it off the ground, by the time transport employees are out of jobs the entire tech sector will have had 3 decades of full AI work on it
>>
>>218666711

We were trained to be that way. It's part of the social engineering push to get us all into the college debt bubble. Have to villainize the alternative. Gen Xers/Boomers were under much less pressure and happily went into various trades/roles and made a career of it, we were brain poisoned and robbed of the chance.

Well, I agree that we were brain poisoned but no one actually forced us to do it. We still had the choice. We just weren't willing to think independently and critically, and whenever an older persn told us, we'd dimiss it as "lol yeah right boomer fuck off you ignorant old-timer, i'm thinking of the future!"
This is the result of the awful attitude that is encouraged to younger people of dismissing anything older generations say.

Okay well I guess we had different experciences. All of the men in my life (e.g., father, uncles, family friends) warned not go focus on uni and to get practical skills and money first, but all of the women and education-adjacent people insisted the opposite.
Yeah of course brainwashed robots in the education system repeat the same shit, they're paid to. But I wasn't SOLELY around these people. I got both sides but made the mistake of believing and trusting only one side.

Yeah man but the thing is, as kids and teenagers (and seemingly now into 20s) the response to any type of "you should do this" from an older figure is met with "fuck off i will do what i want!"
that's just the natural arrogance of youth, especially these days
>>
>>218667611
>>218667659
I feel for both of you. We were all kids and we were supposed to get good guidance and policy-making from the generation before us. They neglected that and served themselves universally, and now they laugh at us like it's our fault we're struggling.
Now, unjustly, we have to take ownership of our decisions and pretend we were always entirely under our own agency because of we weren't, we've got no business taking charge now and unfucking the situation we've been placed in.
It's fucked all around, but don't get demoralized, get mad.
>>
>>218667811
Im one of those anons you responded to but I do not agree with you. You seem to be perpetuating the attitude of "it's not my fault, it's everyone else's!" which I strongly disagree with, as both me and that anon agreed on. Our point was that it WAS our fault for making the wrong decision and taking tyhe wrong advice.
I'm not one of those annoying smug "fuck off boomer" types that most young people are these days. I actually take responsibility for my decisions even if they are bad ones. That makes me a minority these days.
>>
I have tried hard to attempt an understand MAGA voters, and talked to some of them and it's usually pretty much this "they took our jobs" kind of shit, it's kind of retarded. So South Park wasn't that far from reality, unfortunately
>>

>So South Park wasn't that far from reality
Unlike your post which is entirely fictional.
>>
>>218667851
No, you might be misreading me. I said we do need to take ownership of our decisions. That said, we should acknowledge the miscarriage of justice that was the misguidance given to us by the previous generation. It's not a zero-sum blame game. They were wrong, and we were wrong, but our path forward is ownership of it and correction for the future.
>>
>>218667906
I'm gonna guess you're an 18 year old college freshman.

Miscarriage of justice? That's funny, especially as someone that just graduated to become a lawyer. You use that phrase very lightly and flippantly.

South Park was much better in the early seasons when it was just entirely about Trump. I remember back in 1997, you weren't a cool kid at my school unless you had the Trump trapper keeper. And who can forget the legendary Trump Park video game on N64?
But like everything these days they had to add in a bunch of Jurassic Park kid characters to expand the demographic and now they've taken over the show. We barely got any Trump screentime last season with these little shits constantly butting in.

Do you or you do not believe that society has a duty to look out for its younger generations?
If you do, you'll agree that it is unjust for one generation to fuck over the next. That is a miscarriage of justice. If you don't then your sense of morality is skewed in such a way that civil society as a concept shouldn't even exist to you. No duty within society to look out for one another means no justice, no society at all.
Good going on graduating from law school, but maybe get some legal experience before you start peacocking with your little degree, you faggot.
As for me, I joined the Marines at 17, have had consistent work in space and aerospace all my life, own two houses, have a wife, two kids, and make low 6 figures. I've got a good life because I made the right calls and got lucky. But looking beyond myself, I see how many of my cohort got shit advice from those who were supposed to be looking out for them and are struggling. That's unjust and that's my bottom line. But you keep being faggot and reveling in how mature you are for taking ownership of your situation, ignoring the causes and effects on those around you because you wanna posture as "above it all". You'll be a great fuckin lawyer.

Blue collar work is not that far from being automated, anon. Sure, white collar work is at risk of automation as well, especially low effort office jobs, but most of the well-paying blue collar work is going to be partially or fully-automated within the next decade. Just look at driving jobs - they've been working on perfecting AI self-driving models for the better part of this decade and are doing live street and highway tests already. Semi-freight, city taxis, and bus travel will be partially or fully-automated long before studios start canning animators.

We're all still fucked when the job market shifts to mass automation, but guys like Randy at least have transferable skills that can keep them job hopping for a few years while other shit gets outsourced. Randy's been a geologist, a football coach, a farmer, a chef, a home renovator, he's owned multiple small businesses, a dozen other jobs I'm forgetting, and was also briefly Lorde; the man's CV probably has ten pages dedicated to accumulated skills at this point. Daryl's been in construction his whole life and should have plenty of transferrable skills to remain viable in the workforce, but he's too prideful to accept any job that's less glorious than his old foreman position. Truck drivers and coal miners are also ultimately fucked in the long-term because they're niche jobs with little-to-no transferrable skills. Seriously, if all you've done for 20 years is drive a big truck, what the fuck do you think you're gonna do when all the trucks are automated?

It's pretty retarded, you are obviously by elimination a neo-nazi and probably MAGA.

I don't know why you try to play the old game of making anyone with an opinion you find unacceptable as being younger or a teenager or some shit. If that was the case you all probably are meth heads in the country who are struggling with employment, as the statistics seem to state. And also, you can be much younger then someone, but know more then them. It has nothing to do with experience. Humans are highly adaptable animals. Sometimes people entirely forget we are above all ANIMALS. You can train an animal to do good things what a parent can do for a child. People are a little different here or there but you aren't just out of the womb being a good person. I swear it says that in The Bible actually, you are default evil and selfish but with refinement you can become a Great Leader or Hero.

Sorry I digress just saying when you grow up you will find roadblocks in your life. If you are just sitting around as an able bodied man, drinking all day, playing vidya, you didn't consider something. Learn to code its 2015. That redneck lived on welfare and used youtube to learn to code, now making 100K a year in Atlanta. That is what is best to do, humans aren't meant to do the same thing forever, they are meant to do the optimum thing with whatever situation they are in. 44 year old version of this guy might be replaced by AI but they know how to use tools from when they were 24 and unemployed. At 64 they die. This is life.

So any anons here I would say if you can't work in your dream job, work in a trade, then find happiness otherwise, then maybe try again but this time you have years of work experience. Whatever you do stop thinking you deserve to never work again.

Because contemporary western socialism is not a moral or philosophical imperative. It is a rhetorical garment or accessory worn for validation, either self or social. They can claim capitalism is the problem as a luxury belief while they enjoy all the benefits of living within a capitalist system but would never actually damage that system to their own detriment. The revolution is always fought by someone else in their hypothetical utopianist fantasies.

You should get into a discord channel with these people sometimes. When you let them start talking you will discover they are all crippled by social dysfunction and/or mental illness and either up to their eyeballs on medication or buried so deep in their on victim complex they can't escape it.

They'll tell you all about Marx but don't know a thing about John Stuart Mill. They'll worship despotic mass murderers like Che Guevara and Ho Chi Minh but call Hitler the most evil man to ever live. They have no self awareness and live only to comfort themselves and others with empty platitudes and fantasies, Nietzsche's Last Man incarnate.

That's the core of all authoritarian ideologies, but communism especially. Neurotic freaks know that they can't compete in social hierarchies that inevitably form, so they demand that the state puts everybody on equal footing.

Hunter gatherers in the jungle hunt/gather for about 3 hours a day and can build whatever they want to live in. Can you imagine going to a tribe of them and saying “you’re not allowed to hunt anymore or build your own shit. We will hunt for you and build a house for you and you have to spend 8 hours a day cleaning other peoples poopoo from toilets and if you stop we immediately withdraw your food and shelter”.

I agree but desu I was young when this first aired so all I took from it was whites complaining about browns. which is what they really were going for, so in that sense it hasn't aged. their propaganda that is. now it will be that they hate immigrants...south park always lies about the points they make. omit the ILLEGAL part, omit criticizing democrats.

South Park had some eerie gems for the future, but the redneck episodes legitimately did fail on hitting the mark.

Same people who were upset about rednecks complaining about immigration are legitimately complaining now about AI replacing them.
They only care now because they are being hit the hardest while redneck jobs are skyrocketing basically across the world.
At the end of the day everyone working on SP is a bunch of nepobabies who led the good life and are painfully disconnected from the realities of average working families.

as someone with a class A CDL job, I feel literally zero threat from any developing technology in my life time. my certification is in high demand. last time I applied for jobs I applied at six places and got offered six interviews and only went to half of them, and then got three job offers. it is literally statistically one of the fastest growing industries and has been for a long time.

automated trucking only works on private land with almost zero liability issues where loads are simple and go back and forth like a train. we aren't anywhere close to replacing what an OTR trucker does let alone what a delivery driver does. to replace my job you would need trucks capable of driving themselves through cities, neighborhoods, interstates without hitting shit, that are able to unload themselves in a way that is acceptable to around 10-20 businesses a day, along with some kind of AI interface that is able to solve dynamic issues with receivers that happen on a daily basis. we are very far away from any of this, we are talking about a completely new kind of national infrastructure.
>>
>>218678696
That number keeps going up. Careful! It's improper for an anti-Jew like yourself to reach 6 million.

no you didn't. an yes, unloading is easy with equipment. unloading in a satisfying way to a specific receiver who has to distribute the goods throughout a store is not. we do not have the infrastructure to accommodate whatever poorly thought out vision is in your head and we don't have anything close to it. we are talking fully automated warehouse to shelf infrastructure. a complete rebuilding of all stores, restaurants, factories, all receiving areas in all buildings that receive deliveries. you have no clue what you are talking about.

See here's the thing: Millenials grew up in a time when they had to learn to use things by observing their construction and operation. Boomers didn't know how to use shit like computers and cellphones so we were on our own figuring that shit out. We had no choice but to develop an intuitive problem-solving ability in relation to technology.

Zoomers grow up with electronic devices intended for Boomers. Big candy colored buttons and simple functions. If something breaks it's replaced rather than repaired. The intuitive problem-solving is not necessary, so it is not learned.

This has been the blue collar cope for my entire life. The truth is most blue collar jobs pay an ok-ish middle class wage and destroy your body within 15 to 30 years, depending on how much manual labor you are doing. Your max earning potential will be in the low 6 figure range after over a decade of work (sometimes longer) and you will be physically exhausted at the end of every day once you hit 30. There’s nothing wrong with blue collar work but lots of blue collar workers have a chip on their shoulder because deep down they know that making excel spreadsheets in an air conditioned office for $120k/year is a much better deal.

this is a caricature of boomers, anyone in the 90s that had an office job had to learn the basics of using a computer. I learned on my own but it was because my father knew any retard can learn to use a computer and does not need handholding. The purported reason zoomers can't use technology is because of smartphones and tablets making it too accessible and idiot-proof, meaning they never had mistakes to learn from and would rather replace than repair because of how consumer tech is nowadays, as you say, sure, but in reality there were plenty of millenials in high school that did not and still do not know more about computers than opening word, excel and internet explorer (they never bothered getting a different browser either). Each generation has retards and each gen has self-aggrandizing thoughts about how stupid the next gen is. The real problem is corporations making technology less and less accessible to the average consumer.

Not really, wages are supply and demand. Grant an engineer is probably be paid more than a mechanic, but if the supply of engies outpaces the job demand the wage decreases and if the demand of mechanics outpaces the supply wages go up, wages are completely fluid. But since we're pushing for everyone to go to college and get a degree the supply increases despite the job pool being the same, so you get a lot of qualified (Take this word with a grain of salt) people doing jobs that doesn't fall within their qualifications. The meme of the college grad being a Mcwagie or Subway sandwich artist are quite real.
