What stops me from buying the complete Sopranos box set on Blu-ray is the fear that as soon as I do, they'll announce a 4K release.

Is this show popular with black people?

Probably, it's violent and stupid

Don't you need to be agys oemwhere else?

resolutionfags are slowly losing their foothold in the zeitgeist thankfully. DVD 480p is peak for enjoying art
>>
modern 4k bluray players and tvs have pretty good upscaling so no real need for 4k discs at this point

4K for a TV show? Isn't that overkill? It was broadcast at 480p so the DVD should just be "good enough" right?

It was shot on film. It could easily get a 4K release at some point.

There's no benefit for a 4K version of this show. Even if it was available, why waste money on it? Just get the DVDs.

>buy the bluray release
>it has two "round table" interviews with certain cast and crew members
>edie falco admits she forgot to put her jewelry on in the last scene at the diner
>chase slaps his forehead and says he wished she'd said something earlier and he'd have wasted the last couple hundred grand they had in the budget while filming putting her rings on in post production
>everyone remembering how during meal scenes most people would just play eat, acting like they were eating
>nancy marchand would apparently go to fucking town actually eating food to the point they said her chewing loudly was interfering with shots
>>

Blu ray is just as good as 4k

Are you guys fucking blind? Where is this phobia of better picture quality coming from?

Probably poorfag cope.

Obviously a samefag.

It's not but it's probably good enough in the case of a six season television show. Remastering 80+ hours of TV would require an incredible amount of effort and money, potentially more than they would make back by selling it. Star Trek TNG infamously lost money on its blu-ray release for that exact reason, so it's hard to imagine many studios going in for full 6+ season 4K boxsets for their shows, no matter how popular. There's also the possibility that it'll just be completely half-assed and ultimately worse like the recent Mad Men 4K "restoration" on HBO Max. Just buy the blu-rays on sale, OP.

I personally don't want to see most of the Sopranos actors in higher resolution. I'd pay a premium for a version that makes some of these ugly old wops a little blurred and is only high res for teenage Meadow

Look at the 4Kjew kvetching. We don't fall for your tricks.
>>
>>218666180
It's not all that expensive. You can buy it on sale sometime and then sell it for a little something if the 4Ks come out.

I hate that you can't just trust that releases like this will be as high quality as they should be. I trust Criterion, but other than that, I always have to read reviews before I buy any Blu-ray release.
