Feels too self referential, like now it's all about being a Scary Movie...movie, instead of a parody of other movies. Lots of memberberry shit, not a fan of the new zoomer actors involved or the current year political shit in the trailer either. Now that the dust has settled people are over it.3 was a slight tone shift from the first two but that tone shift puts it more in line with Airplane and Naked Gun films, which are generally considered better than Scary Movie films. So unless you're a purist for Scary Movie of all things then 3 is a necessary refresher for the franchise. The movies they parody in 3 were significantly bigger than the movies they parodied in 2 (excluding Exorcist).4 had a lot of good moments but rubbed people the wrong way by having so few of the recurring characters. 3 at least made an effort to preserve the franchise's urban roots but 4 is effectively a white movie for white people. Now that the fatigue has settled this isn't as much of a complaint as it used to be so people are able to appreciate it more.5 is forgettable and had to compete with A Haunted House but even that had a couple of good gags. I liked how they blatantly used a model set and toy car anytime characters changed locations. AHH is a little bit funnier but its tone is too mean for Scary Movie. Compare the commitment girl getting raped in SM2 to the main character getting raped in AHH and you'll see what I mean. SM5 nails the tone it just flubs too many jokes.
