Every marvel comics character had magic technology in various gray metal boxes and wearables with flashing lights. Most had super intelligence to create their own. If such tech appears in a comic it shouldn't be seen as a unique feature of the character or hard fast creative restriction.

I always preferred the organic webshooters It made him less techy than the other MCU heroes and put him more in line with a mutant/science accident

Having to invent web fluid and the whole science of being a humanoid spider is not relatable, no one would do that. Even if he had urges to spin web there are more reasonable ways to satisfy them.
