I watched The Truman Show and I don't know. Some people have told me it was good but I've also read plenty of comments saying they were dissapointed. How do I know if I liked it or not?

>>218675862You're telling us you saw this masterpiece and couldn't tell it was great??? You're trolling or you're really really dumb. Either way, I don't think there's a cure in the world for you.
You're supposed to have a soul by this point, OP. I'm afraid you'll be an NPC for life now.
>>218675912Hey, don't be too harsh, The Truman Show isn't the easiest movie to watch. It's slow and boring, not much action happens iirc. Some guy behind the scenes controls everything. Ha, I watched it ages ago thinking it was going to be another hilarious romcom with Carrey and I don't remember much other than the stupid ending which plagiarized Titanic and how much it dissapointed me. Now when I think about, I think the movie suck and I hate it.
>>218675897>It is common to feel conflicted about>The Truman Show because it mixes comedy with unsettling philosophical themes, making it a deeply subjective experience. If you felt moved, unsettled, or prompted to reflect on surveillance and authenticity, you likely appreciated its thematic depth; if you felt bored, found the plot illogical, or missed more comedy, you likely disliked it.>To determine your stance, consider these perspectives:>You Liked It If: You enjoyed the balance of Jim Carrey’s dramatic-yet-wacky performance and found the satire on media and surveillance relevant, especially the emotional impact of the final scene.>You Disliked It If: You found the logistics of creating such a vast, fake world implausible or frustrating, or if you expected a different tone based on Carrey’s earlier comedic work.>It’s a "Slow Burn" Effect: Some viewers report that the film leaves them feeling "strange" or thinking about its implications, such as the social commentary on artificiality, long after it ends. >The movie is designed to provoke thought on whether we live in a world where we are constantly observed, similar to the Truman Show delusion described on Wikipedia. Ultimately, there is no wrong answer—if it left you questioning reality, it succeeded in its goal.can someone tldr me the answer
>>218675962Hahahahha. Truman Show is utter slop. It's a movie for NPCs. You're the NPC.
>>218675990>the stupid ending which plagiarized Titanic>Man who's only seen Titanic: The ending of this movie is giving me big Titanic vibes!
>>218676118As I told you earlier, I've only see the movie once and it was a long time ago and all I remember thinking was how it looked eerily similar too the ending of titanic. I guees you don't get it unless you've seen both of them but whatever, I know I've discussed this with other anons and some of them also felt the same way as I did. Maybe you're one of them or maybe you aren't, why should I care?
>>218675862The movie itself isn't great. Decrypting the message is the fun part.
>>218676032just ask Grok to summarize it
>>218676518I did and all I got was>The Truman Show insists upon itself
>>218675862Ask your zoomer friends.
>>218676482>Decrypting the message is the fun part.what's the message then? that I'm being observed by the state because they think I'm funny or a threat?
>>218675862There is not much comedy in it so a zoomer like you may like it.
>>218675862Did you like it?
>>218676680yeahhh it might be a little over your head little bud, maybe try again when you're older
>>218676891what don't you stop fucking around and just tell me what the message is supposed to be
>>218675862This movie was stupid. The show started when he was born and it immediately became the most popular show on Earth? So every week a billion people just tuned in to watch a baby do nothing?>trust me bro it'll become interesting in a few years
>>218675862Did you think it was a super dark creepy psychological horror? Congratulations, you loved it because you're retarded.Did you think it was a silly little surreal Jim Carrey comedy? You're in the minority that has taste and just likes it.
>>218677033maybe it attracted nonces and other people who love watching children do all kind of things?
>>218675862mfw when I realized the poster spoiled the ending
>>218677033unironically look at what the most popular streamers do. 100 million people would tune in to watch the paint dry on truman's walls as a a baby just because of how much they spent on the studio.
>>218677033Have you seen the slop that zoomers and millenials waste their days watching? As long as they reliably hosted multi-hour long streams of the baby sitting there and shittong himself I could definitely see it getting big irl.
>>218677189i bet truman had a wet nurse with fat ass titties and people would watch for hours just to catch a glimpse of the nursing.
>>218675862Yeah, I'm totally with you bro. I too saw Truman, maybe a few months ago and it left me puzzled. Don't get me wrong, I could tell it was solid, it had ok photo, Jim Carreys acting was crazy funny and all that, but still it felt... boring? sleepy? nothing happened in it. I didn't care. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. All in all I rate it a 8/10 because if I don't people will say I'm stupid.
>>218675862I didn't think it was all that great.Partly because JC is just very annoying and very much not a good serious leading man.But also because it was just lazy. Once they had the basic idea they did all the obvious things. It wasn't sharp or funny or interesting or creative.
realistically the first act is just a bunch of interesting scenes put together, some clearly made for the trailer, like the scene where the rain falls only on him? The next scene in the movie he doesn't even mention it happening or acts as if it was even weird, like the scene didn't even occur. Anyway, only the final act once he's in the water, that's where the movie becomes from interesting and good to great.
>>218677874>like the scene where the rain falls only on him? The next scene in the movie he doesn't even mention it happening or acts as if it was even weird, like the scene didn't even occur.stuff like that has happened every day in his life, of course he acts as its totally normal, that's the point of the movie - everyone think their unique until they realize they aren't
i can't tell if the people in this thread complaining are just beyond autistic or beyond retarded. they probably read 1984 and go, this is exactly like that star trek episode, not original at all.
>>218679502I can't tell what you're saying
>>218679338>acts as its totally normalruns around avoiding it and laughs triumphantly when he realizes something's fucky?
>>218675862I know if a movie is good or not by whether or not the social group I associate with thinks it's good or not. If I do not know the correct answer I will just stare at you blankly.
>>218676680it's literally just>People don't appreciate freedom unless they never had it in the first placehence why Trueman who is never allowed to do anything is contrasted by people living in real world who choose not to do anything
