I've always assumed it was about Michael Caine being cool. Why did it resonate with the audience?

Why did South Africans edited out this scene? Another proof that apartheid regime was evil.

Great movie, really enjoyed the cinematography. Ending surprised me.

Isn't it the first phone sex scene in a film or something?

Also made kinkier by the fact that Michael Caine's landlady is in the room with him listening to his end of it and he screws her later lol.

funny how things come full circle

The Get Carter soundtrack was one of those things like Jaws that's really simple but pitch-perfect for the film.

You know from the first few seconds that this is not going to end well lol

One of the best scenes of this film. Any other kinos where Caine plays a badass? This is the only one I've seen where he's not an old man (besides the adventure movie with Connery, The Man Who Would Be King, which was pretty solid - I rec it to my /tv/tards.)

He's solid & not old in Zulu, Ipcress File, Alfie and Sleuth. None of those roles are wimps but none are exactly badasses either.

From the 1980s onwards he was mostly in crap, with a few exceptions (Educating Rita, Hannah and Her Sisters, & one or two others.)

This film really captures the grittiness of England during the fag-end of the 60s
