In Vegas rules, the dealer is required to hit if he has 16 or less. Staying at any number is a valid strategy because the dealer might break trying to get over 16. I don't think the movie understands this.Even if Austin draws a king and goes from 5 to 15 that doesn't change anything for him. Austin was in a position where he would have to either have to hit at least twice or otherwise bet on the dealer busting.
