This scene captures in a nutshell how movies did Ron dirty
In the books Ron is important for the main character trio because he was actually raised in the magical world, so he knows who the Malfoys are, what Gringott's is and so on. So in the book he is the one that gets mad at Malfoy for calling Hermione a mudslime because he's the only one of them who has some sort of idea what kind of a word it is. And in the movie he is throwing up slugs while Hermione and Hagrid explain what it means to Harry.

Hermione was the brains, Harry was the brawn, Ron was the comic relief.

Not in the books though.
Also Harry is surprisingly passive as a protagonist. Something something neoliberal dream, it's not that slavery is bad, we just need to be better masters and beat our slaves only once a week.
