To even carry Carol this far, he's had to stack a shitload of weaknesses and limitations onto the Ploobs (which feel like a borderline retcon for how they make their initial takeover of the planet impossible) but the result of that is that there's basically no tension because the Ploobs can't do anything to her. Or at least, not until they make the Carol-specific virus, which Vince can hold off on for as long as he wants.
