The fucking Rebels had no plan to replace the Empire other than extremely wishful thinking as you can even see their entire fleet is no match for the Imperial fleet and a whole fucking Death Star, even with the Emperor dead who is going to look at them and say you have a mandate to govern the galaxy.Palapatine and the Empire while ruling through fear and perhaps being harsh provided a vital service to the galaxy providing order and structure for various culture to engage in trade and business with each other legally and without fear of being invaded by each other or fucked over. All that is out the window without the Empire around to the point I would imagine the Rebels would probably negotiate some kind of peace terms with the Imperial remnants that they would still have a seat in the new republic as they would be providing alot of military and security forces. I mean the movies are kinda naive and stupid in assuming killing one guy is gonna magically fix everything and everyone is going to live happily ever after.
