She’s right. Pilots often can have extremely different tone and take on the tone, cast and direction from what actually ends up being the show when it airs. Characters can be entirely recast because the pilot actor didn’t want to do the show anymore or the executives didn’t think they were right for the part after all or scheduling issues forcing them to dropout. Characters can be retooled to something totally different because they didn’t work. These are not new things or a sign the Buffy revival sucked. It’s normal production shit. This is why original pilots can often never air and they just shoot an entirely introductory first episode.
