I'm ok with adaptations doing their own thing, especially in the case of multiple adaptations existing, but I can't say I'm the biggest fan of the first ever adaptation of a work being such a loose adaptation. That said it's so good on its own merits that I actually don't mind in this case. And the plus side of it being a loose adaptation is you don't have to worry about it hitting a certain number of seasons to be able to cover everything, it just needs to be able to cover its own plot. Which takes a lot less seasons than a direct adaptation of seven books would.

And considering this is getting four seasons I feel pretty confident it's gonna make it to the end. I can think of very few series that get four seasons only to be canceled without being able to finish the story. Like, Westworld and that's it. And that's more the fault of unlucky timing than anything. My guess is if four doesn't wrap the story up, five will.
