Just watched this fan fiction. really liked it, but it's tough to get through cause of how slow it is to start. wanna gush about it? tell me why you think it's shit? post porn? i'm personally mad they killed athena, she was a good villain. her motive was simple and what made her a problem was convincing and they did a great job of making her menacing, to kill her off and set up a sequel without her is a waste of a great character
I liked it. Tonally it was decent. Story couldn't decide which way to go: is this nostalgia bait or something new? The pacing wasn't too bad but your right about the beginning. The acting was barely ok. I used to really like Leto but he ain't been shit for today l almost 20 years. The special effects ranged from good to wtf. The direction was big standard. I actually day through the whole movie in one go, which I couldn't do with Frankenstein, Nosferatu and be safe, have fun, don't die so that's saying something. I happen to like the IP (I'm old) but this works have been better off it had been just a little messy and unhinged. Otherwise it was bland and sterile. Killer S/T tho. Everyone knows that tho
>>218697905It's a masterpiece on the same level as The Matrix. Maybe years from now people will realize it. Play it back and really study it man it's got concepts that no other film has ever even attempted before.
>>218698256what didn't you like about leto in this movie? i feel he did a good job of playing the robotic child soldier coming to want more out of his life. i feel like people latch on to actors too much whether it's out of hate or love. an actor doesn't tell the story, they're a small piece of it and all they have to do is play their part right. that's all the directorbig fan of the ip too (oldish). i'm amused by how the story is always named after tron, but never about tron. closest we get to it being about him is uprising
>>218697905The first third of the film is kino. As soon as the focus turns to the rich tech gal and her millennial crew it goes to shit, and not just because of her acting. Plus her and Ares have no real chemistry or bond. They set it up to look like he's in love with her (matched with the lyrics in several of NIN's score which are vaguely erotic) but the film is too Disneyfied and bland to do anything with it. The film should have focused way more on Ares as a counterpoint to Dillinger and have the latter as the final fight instead of the low-stakes shit we got. The film sets up an interesting dynamic that Dillinger and tech girl are sort of continuations of their respective families' legacies, not unlike being functions of a program themselves. This makes for a great parallel to Ares being an AI slave to a higher plan, except he is able to escape his own subjugation. Could have been an interesting commentary on how technology advances while human beings reliant on that tech decline and potentially subject themselves to the desires and ideologies of their own immediate social spheres but fuck it! Jared Leto getting the shits in India and discovering himself man!!!
>>218698256Jfc. I'm retarded
>>218698764I used to like him but he's just not very committed to the role in this. His line delivery comes off as flat to me. His motivations changed at least twice in this. I mean, I do like him but more in serious stuff than this. He wasn't terrible. He just didn't seem to be trying very hard to convince us, the audience
Agent Dana Skully was wasted in this
>>218698923Uh, her name is Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier.
>>218697905Extremely ugly mutt cast to the point even my normie gf pointed it out. Boring meaningless story.Only redeeming quality was the soundtrack and Leto was okay.
>>218697905>>218698256>>218698622you're joking, right?
>>218698897i feel the flat delivery was the point cause all the programs talked in a somewhat alternatively aware way, slightly robotic. he was playing some kind of autistic born yesterday soldier who was breaking the brainwashing and i felt convinced by his deliveries that that's what the character was. judging the movie based on leto's previous performances doesn't feel appropriate because those performances don't have anything to do with this one. i liked him in this and i'm not a fan of his, but i am a fan of the character we followed.

I loved this movie it was amazing. I hated that cringy comic con tesla panel thing they did but that was only like 5 minutes. Everything else was stellar. Leto was so good in this playing an ai. The music is incredible. The effects actually look good which is a feat for a post 2020 movie
>>218697905They cast Leto. Reason enough for me to not watch it
>>218697905>Objectively bad movie is secretly good #65461355434183
>>218697905There were extremely fleeting good moments like the 3D printer, the hacking and as everyone has said the ost. But it was 99% generic shit.I don’t even know why any of the Tron stuff was significant if they could just 3D print whatever they want, it was just an added step. None of the tron irl stuff was engaging, most laughable was how shit the big flying thing was. Also what an ugly fucking cast. If Leto who is pressing 60 mogs all your other actors you are doing something insanely wrong. Does Disney hate asians? You could not pick an uglier asian girl if you tried.
