Hereditary’s great strength is the casting of the son. Two extremely white parents, an extremely white daughter, the son is clearly a Middle Eastern Jewish Mexican. This film is a scathing commentary. The kid, born brown, turns out to be truly evil. The moral takeaway from it is literally to beware of the evils of brown humanoid goblins in white societies. How can you top that with the current zeitgeist the way that it is?
